Throughout the summer, The China IPR SME Helpdesk has been actively raising the IP awareness among EU SMEs by conducting online trainings, holding on-site IP briefings, producing new information materials, as well as updating the pool of IP Guides with more comprehensive IP knowledge. The Helpdesk continuously strives to provide relatable services and tailored materials according to our European partnersâ€™ and SMEsâ€™ needs, all of which made available on the joint homepage www.ipr-hub.eu!

On 4 July 2016, the China IPR SME Helpdesk was present at the Afaceri.ro conference hosted by the Embassy of Romania in Beijing. With the aim of supporting economic partnerships between Romania and China, the Helpdesk Senior Project Officer Carol He provided a briefing on key IP considerations when entering the Chinese market and attending negotiations. On an afternoon in July, the Helpdesk visited the EU SME Centre in Beijing to have a chat with the Centreâ€™s Director Mr. Chris Cheung. The discussion evolved from topics like EU SMEsâ€™ inquiries related to IP matters to key IP considerations while doing business in or related to China. The China IPR SME Helpdesk, a project co-funded by the European Union, supports European small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to both protect and enforce their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in or relating to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan through the provision of free information and services. These take the form of jargon-free, first-line, confidential advice on intellectual property and related issues, plus training, materials and online resources.
