Treasurer Announcements
Hey, OYFA!
I'm Madelyn Luansing and I will be serving as your Treasurer for the upcoming school year.
I'd like to announce the winner of the Barrio 2015 T-Shirt contest: Margie Martinez! These will be the cool shirts we all wear at the end of Barrio when we sing the Good Ole Song! You must purchase and wear this year's Barrio T-Shirt in order to participate in the finale. (It will be $10 but payments aren't due until the shirts come in.)
Lastly, I am still accepting (and would greatly appreciate) donations towards the Fourth Year Class gifts! You can Venmo donations directly to "Organization of Young Filipino Americans" or pay cash to me. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you all werk it at Barrio!

II. Culture
Hello OYFans!
We are your new Culture Chairs (cuties) or as our parents named us, Jane Canteros and Angely Jomuad! We are so excited to be be in charge of culture for the 2015-2016 school year! We would like to thank you for placing your trust in us for next years Barrio and other culture related events! We will work hard and make you guys proud! Get ready incoming fourth years because you are going to have the best Barrio of your lives! In order to get to know us better, we would like to present some fun facts about ourselves:
Jane: “I hope to one day own a farm!! But really, I just want a pig. lmao”
Angel: “I believe I have Trypophobia (fear of repeating patterns of holes/etc). I even get scared of water droplets and patterns on trees! Its a real struggle!”
As for IMPORTANT tasks and events coming up:

BARRIO is this Saturday! Get excited! Get hyped! Mandatory rehearsals are on Monday, April 6th from 6 to 10 pm (at Newcomb South Meeting Room), and Friday, April 10 from 4-10 pm (at Western Albemarle).

We also have another event after Barrio for EscAPAde, so look forward to possibly performing for that! We will send more information about this event soon!

HELLO FRIENDS!
We’re so excited to start the year as your new PRetty PRincesses! Thank you to our PRedecessors, Margie Martinez and Priscilla Thai, for their amazing work!
Barrio is 7 days away so make sure to PRomote Barrio and OYFA through the Hype Contest!
Be on the look out for your Igorot men and their bamboo sticks! Snap a photo with them and rack up them points! Check the Facebook event page for a complete list of point opportunities. It’s your last chance to win cool PRizes.
We will also be painting Beta Bridge this Tuesday night. Attendance will count as a point for the Hype Contest so come and help sPRead the hype!

We are super excited to be your new membership chairs! First order of business is membership dinner at Ohill at 7PM. Be there pl0x. It will be our first membership dinner (yay!!!!), so please come out and meet and eat with us! Come get to know us! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

It’s your new D7 Representative here to bring you some news from our district!
- 1. Thank you so much for putting up with me trying to figure out a selfie stick at the April General Meeting. FIND Spring Conference, Lakas Loob: Speak without Shame, is going on April 10-11th at UMD College Park. Feel free to continue showing support by tweeting or posting photos on Instagram with the hashtags #LakasLoob2015 or #NoShame2015.
- 2. We are in the midst of culture show season in D7! FASA UNCG, FACT@VCU, and VT FASA Culture Shows are coming up! I have created a Google doc for rides, so if anyone wants to attend and support our other member schools, please fill out this form!

X. Scholarship
Hey OYFA!
First off, we would like to thank you all for electing us as your new Scholarship Chairs! We’re very excited to announce that we will be cosponsoring with Community to present OYFA’s very own VMAs (location and time TBA).

If you don’t know what the VMAs are, it’s an event co-sponsored by Scholarship and Community that OYFA has every spring that showcases videos sent in by OYFA members. In addition to videos, there are also live performances. The videos will be judged by board and the best submission will win a trophy! There will be food and raffles, and all proceeds will go towards the OYFA Excellence Scholarship and the He Cares Foundation.
Get creative and submit a video! Videos don’t have to be music oriented at all; make a short film, a documentary, anything you want! We only ask that you try to keep your submissions to be no more than 10 to 15 minutes in length. We’ve extended the deadline for video submissions to be Friday, April 17th by midnight!

There is also an option for live performances, so if you want to perform, make sure to let us know through the form above by Tuesday, April 7th!
If you don’t plan on performing or submitting a video (even though you should!) please come out and support everyone, have fun, and eat food!
