Hello OYFAm!
First and foremost I would like to congratulate our new Treasurer for the 2016-2017 school year, JEROME TIRSO! Congratulations Jerome! I wish you the best for your position in the upcoming year.
Secondly, I wanted to introduce my successor, Madelyn Luansing. I can’t wait to see where you will take OYFA with your platform of Revitalization!

Firstly, thank you to all of those who helped us in the selection of our new council for the 2016-2017 school year. I understand that it was quite a cumbersome process but I applaud you all on your diligence and dedication to the organization.
I am very pleased to announce the 2016-2017 council:

We currently have three vacancies that will need to be filled via interim. Next year's board will be releasing nominations soon for the positions of PR chair, Historic chair, and D7 representative. Hey everyone!
Vote on designs for the Barrio 2016 T-Shirts here! Everyone participating in Barrio will be REQUIRED to purchase one of these shirts in order to participate in the Good Ole Song we do onstage at the end of the show. (Fourth years will receive an OOFAN shirt instead, but please fill out the form, too, so I can get everyone's shirt sizes.)
Also, I'm proud to introduce the Treasurer for the 2016-2017 school year -- Jerome Tirso! I look forward to watching him grow and take OYFA to new heights!

Here are some important things happening in the Philippines :
Defense : American Access to Military Bases
In response to China's actions in claiming the South China Sea, the Philippines have granted the US an increased military presence in letting them use five bases. Critics say that the deal violates national sovereignty, and that, “Standing up to China requires developing our domestic economy, industrializing our country, and developing our capacity for external defense."

Hi OYFAm!
Thank you to all the runners & volunteers who came out to Lakas 5K! It was LIT!
Community & ISIP/Advocacy are holding Kamayan again on Saturday, March 26 at 12PM at Balz-Dobie. We will be cooking Filipino snacks! Kainan na (let's eat)!
Lastly, congrats to Oliver Viyar for being elected next Community Chair and Celine Nguyen for being elected to continue as Community Chair! I'm very proud that these two are next year's Care-Chairs!

First off, we want to congratulate the new PR chair for the 2016-2017 term, Jasmin Nguyen!! We are so excited to call her our successor and we are looking forward to what she has planned for next year!

What's up OYFA!
We just want to thank everyone who came out to our Lakas 5K, whether you ran or volunteered, the event would not have been a success without all of your support!
Alas, we lost our basketball and volleyball playoff games (we were so close to winning both!) so this marks the end of the IM season for us :( A big thank you to everyone who played with us this entire year, it was so much fun being able to coach you all and we hope you genuinely had a great time! And of course, to the supporters, thank you so much for coming out to our games and constantly filling us with energy!!

The Gamma Alpha Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority, Incorporated is hosting a Mr. Burgundy and Grey Pageant and fundraiser to kick off the 15th year founding month of their chapter! This event will showcase men at UVA who think they have what it takes to be crowned Mr. Burgundy and Grey, in collaboration with, The Black Student Alliance, The Latino Student Alliance, The National Pan Hellenic Council, and The Organization of Young Filipino Americans! Show up and support your favorite contestant!
