PARENT SATISFACTION SURVEY 2016
Thank you to all parents who participated in the 2016 Satisfaction Survey. Our Survey partners, Vividus Marketing, have analysed the results and we will be reviewing these over the coming weeks. We will identify those areas of need expressed by our families through the survey, so that we can continue to improve the services delivered as well as enhance the spiritual, emotional and wellbeing outcomes sought from the ongoing participation of your children in the Macquarie College program.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP AS A COLLEGE VOLUNTEER IN 2017?

Welcome to a new feature, the "Counsellor's Corner". Macquarie College is pleased to welcome Mrs Janelle Tolley to the staff in 2017. I are excited to introduce a new initiative to support the sharing of information to our parent community. The Parent Information Hub is located in the Library and is a partnership with our Library staff. Building upon the existing book collection dedicated to parents for borrowing, we now have an expanded selection of reputable and informative booklets and brochures available to you free of charge. From time to time I will share with you information about featured booklets. This time, I bring your focus to a booklet published by the The Australian Government of Social Services called 'Children and Separation. A Guide for Parents'. This booklet provides insight into the impact of separation for children at various developmental stages and some helpful tips in how to best support your child through parental separation. Please pop in and have a look at this and what else is on offer.
THINKING, FEELING, BEHAVING PROGRAM FOR YEAR 7 STUDENTS
The Thinking, Feeling, Behaving Program is an emotional education curriculum for adolescence and this year Macquarie College will introduce this program for our Year 7 cohort. Year 7 students will take part in this program once per week, starting in Term 1 Week 4. The program will continue until the end of Term 2. This program is engaging and interactive and will offer the students the opportunity to learn positive mental health concepts. Janelle Tolley, our College Counsellor, will facilitate these groups. This program is recognised by both the Kids Matter and Mind Matter mental health initiatives.
SEASONS FOR GROWTH – SENIOR SCHOOL GROUPS Seasons for Growth is a program that explores the impact of change in one’s life, provides opportunity for reflection of one’s life story, and supports children and young people to learn new ways to share, think about, and respond to change and loss. Our College Counsellor Janelle Tolley is a trained and experienced Seasons for Growth companion and will be running two small groups for Senior School students during Terms 1 and 2. If you feel that your child would benefit from participation (this program can be offered at Junior School level also), or that you yourself would benefit from participation in an adult version of the program, please register your future interest directly by Emailing Janelle. This program is recognised by both the Kids Matter and Mind Matter mental health initiatives.
There was a buzz of nervous excitement in the air as 46 new Kindy students began their first day at Macquarie College. Here’s their story… "After we waved good bye to our mums and dads we had fun getting to know each other. We went on an adventure to find the library, office, canteen and playground. We met new people who will help us and we even saw Dr Youlden, the boss of the school! Our day was full of new experiences such as learning about the sound ‘s,’ drawing, colouring-in, cutting out and learning how our classroom works. The best part was making new friends. We can’t wait to come back to school for another fun day of learning!"
The Junior School (2-6) and Senior School (7-12) swimming carnivals kick off the official 2017 MC Sport program. We're thrilled to see students take their marks and give their best in the pool and also on the pool deck while supporting their House colours; Charlton (green), Dobell (blue) and Shortland (red). In 2016, Shortland house won the Junior School carnival, while Dobell won the Senior School carnival. We wish all competitors the best as they participate in this year's carnivals and thank all parents for supporting their children in the MC Sport Program throughout 2017. Parents have been sent the full details about the Swimming Carnival by email, so please make sure students are prepared for a fun day representing their sports houses.
