Macquarie College is pleased to present Mr Nic Newling, Mental Health Advocate, who will be joining us on Tuesday 7th March for a series of engaging sessions with students, staff and parents.
Nic will share some of his personal experiences and also his recommendations for being brave, and building confidence to start conversations with friends, families and experts to better manage the mental health of others, and ourselves too.
It is okay to say when things aren't going right.
Your story and feelings are real, because this is your reality.
At Macquarie College we are making a commitment together, as a community, to be active in our approach to the wellbeing of others, and to ourselves also.
We want everyone to be confident enough to say "I will be brave and ask you if you are okay, if it looks like you're not". By asking if someone else is ok, there is no expectation that you are offering to solve an issue, but it is an opportunity to reach out to others with compassion, to start a conversation, and to help someone experiencing difficulties to seek further help from those who are experts in this area of mental and emotional health.
