Dear Praying Friend,
One year ago, we arrived in the Philippines. By God's grace and because of your support, we look back now on the fullest year we've ever experienced. It has been a sweet year of dependence on God and each other.

The Past
We want to take this opportunity to look back on God's works in the past and look forward to His care in the future. Here is what He did for us this last year:
  • Brought us here early as furlough replacement, and then provided financially so that we didn't need to return for deputation.
  • Provided a perfect house for us—accessible to language school and ministry.
  • Gave health and strength, even through Sarah's emergency surgery.
  • Led us to extremely skillful teachers, and gave us a workable schedule for study while also caring for our boys.
  • Led us to one of many wonderful churches, where we we can learn, absorb, and build friendships in Tagalog.
  • Gave us increasing ability to share the truth of the Gospel in Tagalog.
  • Most importantly, He sweetened and deepened our relationship with Him and each other.
Somehow our time here seems simultaneously much longer and much shorter than one year. God has helped us, when everything else changed, or even seemed to fall apart. And so we look ahead with joyful, confident anticipation at what He will continue to do. Here is how He is leading for this next year:

The Future
  • Nov-Dec—finish the textbook section of language school
  • Late December—teach a block course to pastors from a restricted access nation and speak for a youth retreat zZZZ
  • Jan-June—live in Palawan, serve in a local church, and absorb more Tagalog and culture
  • June-August—complete the final Bridge course, preparing materials for ministry
  • August 1—begin teaching full time at BJMBC
This is exactly the plan we hoped to follow—even a little ahead of schedule!
Looking back on a very rich and full year, calls to mind an often repeated biblical theme. God calls us to remember His great works in the past, so that stepping forward into the future we will trust him with things that are as of yet unknown.
"Many O Lord are Thy wondrous works;
they are more than can be numbered" (Psalm 40:5).
We plead for your prayers for us as we continue studying and for God's clear leading in our lives to draw glory to His name. We praise Him for His faithfulness, and we thank you for your tremendous part!

Joel, Sarah,
Jeremy & Zachary Arnold
