Dance On It Studios Newsletter

April 2017
We hope you've all had a wonderful and restful Spring Break and are ready to finish off the year of dance with renewed energy! Please read ahead for info on the upcoming busy performance season.
You Are Invited to a Shower for Katrina and Baby- April 22nd
As you all know our lovely Katrina will be giving birth to a beautiful baby boy late May or early June.  We are having a Staff/Student/Family Baby Shower for her on Saturday April 22nd in the Gods Clubhouse Studio from 3-5pm.  We think it will be a wonderful time for us to be able to bless Katrina with gifts, pray for the baby and also spend some fun time together.  Please RSVP to to let us know you are coming.  We will also be posting the event on FB and visit Katrina's gift registry for items that she and Jason need.
Bottle Drive Update

As of the end of February 2017 we have collected $159.50 in pop bottle returns. This is down from our February 2016 total of $212. We are continuing to collect pop bottles throughout the spring term so please keep bringing them in and hopefully we can top our last year's total of $375.95. All the raised funds go towards off-setting costume costs and we rely on you to provide the bottles!

If you wish to organize a pop bottle drive in your neighbourhood, please see the attached template letter. All you have to do is edit the highlighted info and print and distribute it to as many neighbours' homes as you want to collect from! Then all you need to do is show up and collect on the day you set and bring the bottles into the studio. This is a great way to get the whole family involved in the studio!

Thrifty Smile Card Fundraiser Update
Thrifty food will allow us to raise up to $3000 this year and so far we have only raised $1800 and only have until April 30th to raise the other $1200.  Please load up your cards and encourage others to do the same.  We will be using these funds to help to reduce the cost of costumes for students this year for festival and recital.  Please help us raise our allowable amount as it is truly money back in your pocket.  If you do not have a Dance On It Smile card contact us and we will make sure you get one.
Logo Contest
We are looking for a new logo for Dance On It Studios and we know we have many artistic and talented people in our Dance On It community. If this describes you or someone you know, please help us by designing a logo for the studio and submitting it to or by handing it in to the office. We will be taking logo submissions until April 30th. We will be choosing one logo as the winner, and though we do not guarantee we will end up using it as the official studio logo the winner will receive a prize of a Dance On It jacket with the new logo on it!

Criteria for the new logo:
- simple, streamlined, professional
- should incorporate or feature the words "Dance On It Studios"
- if there is a graphic other than the studio name, it needs to be classic and professional looking, suiting all dance genres and ages. It can suggest dance or movement, but shouldn't suggest a particular style, gender or age.
- would ideally be able to be shortened to "DOI" when we don't have space for the full text
- You may submit a logo that consists of just the studio name, or of just a graphic, or both text and graphic together.
- It should be submitted in black and white

We look forward to seeing what ideas you come up with!

HELP NEEDED: As usual, we will need parent volunteers to help backstage for one of the performances. If you will be helping at a performance you will need to also help at the dress rehearsal as this way you will be able to get comfortable and knowledgeable in your role which will make the performance nights run more smoothly. We will also need parents to help collect tickets, hand out programs, sell merchandise etc. in the foyer of the theatre on each performance night. We will be sending out another email in May but if you know already that you would like to help, please email Sandy at

Kristen is looking for willing and enthusiastic performers for this number. If you are a Dad, Grandpa, Uncle or Brother of one or more of our students and want to make your girl or boy beam with pride, then you are welcome to be a part of this fantastic dance! Spring Session of Fit 4 It - April 1-June 30
More fitness coming your way from April 1-June 30.  We have great classes for kids and adults  and many of them actually run during regular dance class times.  Please check out the schedule and info online to find a class that is right for you.
Family Celebration BBQ
This year we are hoping to start a new tradition at Dance On It Studios. As the recital is a week later than usual and therefore we won't be meeting together for classes afterwards, we want to host a Family Celebration BBQ after the recital in order to fellowship and have fun as a community and say a proper goodbye to dance friends and teachers for the summer!

All Dance On It families are invited, and we hope to see as many as possible out to celebrate our fantastic year of dance! There will be games for children and we will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, beverages and ice cream for all. Families are asked to bring a side dish or salad to share.

When: Saturday, June 10
Time: 12:00-2:30pm
Location: Lifetree Centre (the studio)
Who: all students, their parents, siblings and other family members

Summer Camps

We listened to your feedback and have tried to plan summer programs that fit the majority of the needs and desires in our community.

The week will culminate in a Showcase Performance for friends and families.

We will also be offering adapted dance camps for various ages as well as an adult week of tap and hip hop classes! See below for all the dates and check out the website for further info and registration.

We will not be offering a Summer Dance Intensive this year, but we do encourage our older dancers to attend another intensive in order to continue their training through the summer. Please email Katrina for recommendations.
