LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members, Dear Members,
 
First of all, I want to wish everyone Happy New Year. As I write to my extended IFMA family, I want to make sure you take stock on how we may continue to strengthen our connections with you. As an IFMA member (over 20 years), my engagement in various committees is where I’ve unlocked value to contribute to my success as a professional.  A few examples are:

  • Serving as a Education Committee Chair – I leveraged this experience to ensure I was aware of the evolving tools an FM requires to remain current in our industry. 
  • Serving as a Sponsorship Committee Member – I was able to connect with firms and people that want the FM profession to grow and improve. As a self proclaimed introvert, it allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people to expand my network.

Whatever role you may have in your career, it is imperative that you develop your ‘internal board of directors’, challenge yourself, and develop professional contacts you may call upon when required.
 
Recently we held our mentorship celebration with City Tech and Pratt Institute.  I want to thank the Y.E.L.P. Committee, the students and volunteer mentors for making it a success. We will continue to work with the mayor’s office (landlord/tenant sustainability challenge), schools (mentorships and educational awareness), and other chapters to produce educational programs, panel discussions and special events for our members. Considering these opportunities, please take time to check our website to find what things may interest you.

Registration is open for our annual Awards for Excellence Dinner at the Pierre Hotel on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM where we will announce the Awards For Excellence winners. Click here to view the nominees. Event sponsorship is available on the registration site. The January Networking Only Breakfast will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Avison Young.
 
Our Annual Holiday Party was held Thursday, December 8, 2016 at HB Burger. The toy drive and raffle were a success, with a total of $1,700 rasied for Fratrenite Notre Dame. The December Members Only Networking Breakfast was hosted at Haworth on Thursday, December 15, 2016.

IFMA Cares Committee:

Since January 2014, IFMA Cares has raised approximately $109,011 for the following charitable organizations:

  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention: $7,011
  • Dress for Success: Three clothing drives
  • ASCNYC: One clothing drive
  • IFMA Foundation: $46,000
  • Fraternite Notre Dame Toy Drive: Approximately 400 toys
  • St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: $56,000
