What is the difference between happiness and joy?

Pesina Prints News - Grace of Calvary Ministries

These kids were  happy because we gave them a party and told them about the joy of knowing Jesus!

At our weekly women's bible study, twenty plus women who have lived very difficult lives of poverty studied this question and we all agreed that happiness is temporary and depends on circumstances.  Joy is a fruit of the spirit that you receive when you walk with God through life.  The highs, the lows and the everyday don’t determine our joy when we have Jesus as Lord of our lives.  Galatians 5:22
Two prayer requests for our church, Gracia del Calvario in Vista del Valle:
#1 - spiritual growth and healing in the women and men.  Pray that they can break free from their hurts and mistakes of the past and see changes in their lives and personalities that only God can make.  Then they will be ready to be used by God to minister and serve.  Pray that we can get leaders to start Celebrate Recovery in September.
#2 - the building project.  God’s provision is always in His perfect timing!  Thank you to the many people and churches who have followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and partnered in this project.  A team is coming from YUGO Ministries (www.yugo.org) on June 22 to put a third level on the back half of the building.  The new room will be divided into four children’s ministries rooms with a bathroom and shower!  We are building the concrete staircase to this level to prepare.  Then, the only major project left is the wood, pitched roof, which will cover the front half of the sanctuary.  Hopefully that will be built the first week of July.  Once the roof, windows, doors and electric are installed we can start meeting in the new building.  The lower “garage” will be converted to the lunch kitchen for kids and a youth ministry room.  It will also be used for adult school and other community service activities such as medical clinics.    There will be many, smaller projects for teams to complete!

We are seeing marriages healed, people receiving Jesus in their life and growing in the Word of God.  Weekly men’s and women’s bible studies are well attended.  The women have almost completed Beth Moore’s “Breaking Free”.  There are now 12 or more faithful men attending weekly bible studies.  Jesus and Alma were just married after 8 children and many trials. Jesus is now playing drums with our worship team and the whole family is at church together!

God has provided us a missionary! Nancy Schipke, from Voyagers Church in Irvine, has made a year long commitment with us to serve in children’s ministry and interior design of the new building.  Imagine a God who even sends you a professional interior designer as a missionary!!!  Wow!  Please pray for Nancy to receive 100% of her monthly support for the first year and a place to rent.
Medical updates:  David (9 years) is still in the testing process but has been diagnosed with Rickettsia.  This is carried by ticksfleas, and lice.  Ibrahim (3 years) is waiting a biopsy on his neck tumor.  Sammy (1.5 years) who had cancer in his eye needs prayer as the doctors believe his cancer may return and they suggested she look for help in the USA at St. Jude or other cancer centers for kids.

We recently took Tito & Gaby, the parents at Niños con Vision orphanage to Solvang to present the needs of the kids to The Ranch Church.  We were all showered with love and hospitality by many and we returned refreshed and blessed with God’s plans for all of our lives.  Please pray for the Lord’s provision as the orphanage has a large monthly shortfall to meet the needs of the forty kids.
Thank you from our hearts for your prayers and partnership with this ministry! You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.  We pray that you would know His joy forever!

Humbly in Christ,
