The 2015 Starting Out Safely Road Safety Education Award
Tell us how Road Safety Education is part of everyday learning at your service!
Nominations are open for the Starting Out Safely Road Safety Education Award, sponsored by VicRoads. This Award recognises and celebrates the achievements of early childhood educators in providing exemplary road safety education.

The Award will be presented on Saturday 30 May 2015 as part of the 2015 Early Childhood Education Conference, Together we grow – investing in our future. This award is open to all Victorian early childhood educators and services. The winner will receive $500 and a resource prize pack for their nominated service.

To apply for this Award please share a practice example or learning story (approximately 200 words) highlighting how road safety education is embedded into your curriculum and prepares children for life.

Know the facts about transporting children safely
Zora Marko, Road Safety Education Project Manager, Starting Out Safely program, writes for ACECQA’s monthly newsletter and blog, We hear you, about the new Family Day Care Safe Transport Policy for family day care (FDC) educators and providers.

Zora explains the importance of protecting children while travelling and provides helpful tips on best practice when transporting children. While this policy is targeted towards FDC educators and providers, we also have a separate Safe Transport Policy for centre-based services.   Read the entire story here.

Kicking goals in Geelong

Over 70 educators from early childhood services across Geelong and the Surf Coast joined with ELAA and early childhood expert, Catharine Hydon, on Tuesday 10 March at the Kardinia Park Community Centre to learn about keeping our kids safe around roads.
