about A woman

about A woman
about A woman is a series of research in which female artists are in dialogue about their position in the Dutch art scene. about A woman is a platform for female artists.

The initiative for about A woman was taken by artist Maritsa van Luttikhuizen, who sought the cooperation with artists; Astrid Moors, Debbie Voerman and Rolina Nell.

about A woman organized her first exhibition in 2013 at art space De Witte Slagerij in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. How is the situation now, seven years later, with the emancipation in the arts? A year ago, Mama Cash has published a research report on the position of women artists in the Netherlands, which concluded that the visual presence of women in the art is still far from average.

about A woman brings the work of female artists under the footlight and opens a dialogue about their position. Around International Women's Day 2020, about A woman will organise under the title about A woman -girlhood- an exhibition with the work of eight female artists in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This exhibition offers a reflection on the girl from different perspectives and in different disciplines. Within the context of the exhibition, the artists will talk with invited quests, guest lecturers and the public about the position of the female artist in the contemporary art field.

artist-in-residence

cultural pioneers
On a former flower bulb farm in the unique surroundings of the Noordoostpolder and within walking distance of the IJsselmeer (lake), id11 offers artists, writers, musicians and other creators space and time for their own work. An area of new land extracted from the sea and devised on the drawing table.

The Noordoostpolder is prominently an area for creators. An area where they can focus and concentrate on their work or on a project, with not much interference and temptations of any kind. After making of the former stable an adequate work space for non agricultural activities and creating a guest room, id11 wants to explore further activities at the farmhouse by inviting artists to realise (new) work in relation to the unique environment of the Noordoostpolder.
