Chichester at 50!

The November 14-15, 2015 collaborative concerts, "Chichester at 50", offered by the Colorado Hebrew Chorale and the One World Singers, marked the second successful joint venture of both organizations.

"Chichester at 50" celebrated the 50th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s seminal Hebrew choral masterpiece, Chichester Psalms, and also featured works by Paul Ben-Haim, Charles D. Osborne, Benjie-Ellen Schiller, Sholom Secunda, and John Rutter in the same spirit of hope and joy.

The Colorado Hebrew Chorale and the One World Singers are grateful to the Denver County Cultural Council of SCFD, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District , for their support of this unique program.

Kol Nashim
Singer of the Month

I have always loved to sing. In fact, when I was little, singing was the only thing that would prevent me from getting carsick on drives around L.A. Needless to say, my family was fine with singing all the way there and back!

Later, I had many varied singing experiences. From my high school a cappella choir, to the L.A. Master Chorale (under the direction of Roger Wagner, with guest conductors such as James Levine and Zubin Mehta), to going on a USO tour of Southeast Asia, to playing and singing in a rock band – these are some of my past musical experiences, and I loved them all.

I discovered a love for Judaism and Jewish music later in my life, and sang with the Colorado Hebrew Chorale for many years. Now that Kol Nashim has appeared, I’m very happy to be a part of this wonderful group. Basically, I just love to sing!

A SEASON FOR GIVING

The membership of Colorado Hebrew Chorale and Kol Nashim work tirelessly to raise funds which enable both choruses  to continue our mission of presenting Jewish music to the broader community.

Earlier in 2015 the Chorale was awarded over $8,000 from SCFD , the Scientific Cultural and Facilities District. Pictured above from left to right are Sarah Wolfgram, a member of Denver County Cultural Council, Bonnie Kossoff, Colorado Hebrew Chorale board member and one of the Chorale's founding members, and Carol Kozak Ward, Chorale music director, in a photo taken at the Denver County Cultural Council Check Presentation Ceremony.

In November, Kol Nashim held its first  "Cookie Campaign", raising over $650 selling cookie dough and cheesecake. These funds will support Kol Nashim members on a planned future trip to the North American Jewish Choral Festival in New York.
