The Scouts have set up a "tent village" in downtown Kabul and are serving 40 families displaced by the Taliban advance. The Scout camp is being supported by local residents who are dedicated to doing whatever they can to help their fellow citizens. Today Jawad, our Scout program coordinator, reported:

"The community around the camp are very good people. They see how the Scouts are working and they are supporting us at every step. They bring us food and whatever we need, and they are accompanying us in our work until late at night."

The Scout village is being seen as a model for other IDP camps in the area. It has a medical tent, a play tent for children, hygiene facilities, and food, medicine, and essential items available to everyone living there. Two doctors are onsite and our psychosocial staff are working with people who have requested counselling.

Two of our Scout leaders, Rabina and Amin, are working with the children at the camp to keep their spirits up. Today they led games, organized a mini community service project where the group cleaned the camp, and conducted a sanitation training that the youth will pass on to their families.

The Afghan Scouts are inspiring unity during this extremely difficult period and we are so proud of their bravery and leadership in the face of this disaster. We are grateful for the donations we have received from our international community and our hope is that you will continue to share our campaign within your networks. Thank you for standing with Afghanistan.
