1Licensure deadline Thursday; be sure to answer workforce questions

The WDA reminds members that the deadline to renew your Wisconsin dental or dental hygiene license is this Thursday, Sept. 30. Licensees are expected to complete a licensure renewal form and attest that they have completed the required hours of CE and have current certificates of proficiency in both CPR and use of AEDs.
All dental license holders – regardless of specialty or prescribing history – are required to have two hours of CE on the topic of responsible prescribing of controlled substances for the treatment of acute dental pain. Dentists who still need to fulfill this requirement can access a free, on-demand web course presented by Marquette University School of Dentistry and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Public Health.
We strongly encourage everyone to participate in the DHS workforce study that is part of the 2021 license renewal process. The study will yield information that could help Wisconsin maintain or improve access to dental care in all communities, qualify for increased federal funding and better allocate resources to address future healthcare workforce needs. If you already completed your license renewal without answering the study questions, you can go back and do so.
If you have questions about license renewal, contact the state Department of Safety and Professional Services at or 608-266-2112.

2Participate in SVA dental salary and benefits survey

The SVA Dental Services team is rolling out its latest salary and benefits survey. In today’s competitive labor market, having the latest information will ensure your practice is appropriately positioned to maintain and recruit staff. The survey will gather salary and benefit information based on years of experience for key positions in your practice.
These positions include:
  • Front Desk/Receptionists
  • Business/Office Manager
  • Office Assistants/Filing Clerks/Billing Clerks
  • Hygienists
  • Dental Assistants
  • Associate Dentists (non-owners)
Before starting the survey, gather a list of the hourly wage and years of experience for the positions noted above. For each position, you will need the average hourly wage based on 0-3 years of experience, 4-10 years of experience, and 10+ years of experience.
The survey should take 10-20 minutes to complete. Deadline to respond is Oct. 4.

3 Don't miss ACT Dental's Kirk Behrendt at WDA's Annual CE & Networking Event

Register now for the WDA’s Annual CE & Networking Event, featuring ACT Dental founder Kirk Behrendt highlighting “The Four Keys to Master Treatment as a Team.” The daylong presentation on Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Brookfield Conference Center is worth 6 CE credits and is a great learning opportunity for the entire dental team.
