Equinet, the European Network of Equality Bodies, brings together 45 organizations from 33 European countries, which are empowered to counteract discrimination as national equality bodies across the range of grounds including age, disability, gender, race or ethnic origin, religion or belief, and sexual orientation.

This October newsletter highlights some of the work from different members thus giving voice to the learning and expertise from equality bodies and their work implementing equal treatment legislation.
Serbia: Commission for the Protection of Equality 
Twinning project 
19/10/2015: The Commissioner for Protection of Equality (CPE) is a key player in the EU Twinning project Support to the advancement of human rights and zero tolerance to discrimination. The overall project objective is to strengthen and encourage the implementation of the relevant legislative framework promoting equality and anti-discrimination, and protecting the rights of minorities and human rights defenders and bring the legislative framework in line with European standards. Great Britain: Equality and Human Rights Commission
 Is Britain Fairer?
30/10/2015 The Equallity and Human Rights Commission has launched Is Britain Fairer?, its statutory five-yearly report on equality and human rights progress in England, Scotland and Wales. The landmark report is the most comprehensive assessment of equality and human rights that has been carried out in Great Britain. It reveals that while life has become fairer over the past five years for many, for others progress has stalled, and for some, life on many fronts has got worse. Croatia: Office of the Ombudsman  
Video on refugee crisis
15/12/2015: The office of the Ombudsman has released a video on the refugee crisis in Croatia.  The video summarizes the daily actions of the Ombudsman to monitor respect of human rights at the key spots of the refugees' transit and stay. Read more

Belgium: Institute for the Equality of Women and Men 
National action plan to combat all forms of gender-based violence
14/12/2015:  Following the ratification of the Istanbul Convention by Belgium,  the Institute for the Equality of Women and Men  is coordinating a 2015-2019 national action plan to combat all forms of gender-based violence.  Information about the NAP is available in French and in Dutch
Belgium: Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities
New co-directors appointed
04/12/2015: Els Keyttsman and Patrick Charlier - who is also a member of Equinet's Executive Board -   have been nominated to co-direct the Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities. This nomination will ' allow the Centre to focus its efforts on many societal challenges, where its guidance is requested'. More information available in French and in Dutch
Poland: Commissioner for Human Rights 
Change of English title
09/11/2015: The former Polish Human Rights Defender has changed its English title to become the Commissioner for Human Rights
New Media Library Posts
The Equinet Media Library is an online platform that highlights the communication actions of national equality bodies across Europe.
Germany: Survey on Discrimination - Issued by  the Federal Anti Discirmination Agency, the survey has been launched between 1 September and 30 November 2015 in order to find out more about discirmination behavious in Germany. First results are expected in March 2016.
