Marinus Boezem, A Volo d'Uccello

A Volo d'Uccello, 2010. Color print on Hahnemuehle FineArt, 310 g/m2 German Etching. 100 x 70 cm. Edition of 80.

The quality of this signed and numbered color print is so high that it looks like a collage with actual birdseed. The composition is based on the floor plan of the Basilica di San Francesco d'Assisi. Birds and gothic cathedrals are themes that have been recurring in Boezem's work since the 1970's. In installations such as Étude Gothique Boezem laid out the floor plan of a cathedral in pigeon seed and let birds eat it, so they would transform the artwork into flight and energy.
The edition of this print is 80, which makes it a great opportunity to acquire an affordable piece by such an influential artist who was part of exhibitions like When Attitudes Become Form and whose work is included in many important museum collections. At the moment Marinus Boezem has a solo show at Upstream Gallery.

Jeroen Jongeleen, Untitled

Untitled, 2000 - 2014. Series of wall labels, sizes between 11 x 15 and 21 x 30 cm.

A series of artworks that used to be wall labels in museums, appropriated by Jeroen Jongeleen. The artist took the concept of readymade to a whole new level when he started collecting these objects. The labels are "stolen, appropriated or otherwise liberated from museums to live a life of their own, set free from the burden of the artwork they belonged to".
All pieces are unique and signed. More

Rafaël Rozendaal, Broken Self

Broken Self, 2011. Silkscreen, 50 x 70 cm. Edition of 40.

Love Rafaël Rozendaal's work, but not ready to add a website to your collection yet? This signed and numbered silkscreen based on the website broken self .com (2007) might be what you are looking for. The artwork broken self .com has been translated into physical work before: in 2010, the work was installed as an interactive sculpture. Visitors could throw glass bottles at a wall, thus creating the same sensation of breaking glass. Find out more about the installation at Rafaël Rozendaal's own website.
Upstream Gallery presented 'External Memory', a solo show by Rozendaal, earlier this year and in 2015 we will organize another solo presentation at the Armory Show in New York.
