Tomorrow Night: HVBA Concert

Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road

Saturday, August 13 @ 7:30pm
Tickets at the Door: $20/Members – $25/Non-Members
James Earl Jones Theater
Poughkeepsie Day School
260 Boardman Road
Poughkeepsie, NY

Greetings HVBA members!

I cordially invite you to join us for a concert I’ve been looking forward to: Liam Purcell and Cane Mill Road. These young guys are some of the hottest pickers and one of the best bands around—and that’s really saying something, because there are a lot of hot pickers these days. Frontman Liam Purcell is fresh off a clean sweep of the Rockygrass instrumental soloist competitions, with wins in mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and banjo—a first for that epic Colorado festival—and next on his hit-list is a performance in Poughkeepsie!

Liam Purcell and his band are the future of bluegrass, and let me tell you, the future is bright having them around. Come on down and see this amazing band for yourself this Saturday night at Poughkeepsie Day School—I’ll see you there!

David Chernack, President

Here's a clip of Cane Mill Road at Grey Fox. If they are good enough to play with Billy Strings, they are definitely good enough for all of you to make certain you come out to hear them tomorrow night.

Thanks to Fred Robbins for sending this our way.

Alison Krauss Trivia Question

The last trivia contest was (apparently) too hard. My guess is that this one is doable. Well, at least I think I know the answer and I'm going to give it a try. How about you?

Thanks go out to Dick Bowden for challenging us. Sometimes we actually get there.

Songs of The South

Playlist by David Chernack

While bluegrass is now enjoyed around the country and around the world, it’s no secret that the genre has deep southern roots. Read about David's newest playlist and sit back to enjoy the music!!!!

Zoe & Cloyd - Concert Sampler

The July HVBA Concert was simply wonderful and we have the video sampler to prove it. The Zoe & Cloyd band wowed our audience and so many people have asked for them to return. If you missed it...or if you want to listen to them is the YouTube video for you.

Too Blue, HVBA Member Band,
Performs at Podunk

It's not too late to join the crowd at the Podunk Bluegrass Music Festival in Goshen, CT. Podunk is one of the best festivals in the Northeast and this year HVBA Member Band, Too Blue, wants you to know they are playing a swing dance set on Sat. 8/13 at 5:15 pm. Joan Harrison, Betsy Rome, and Michael Sassano will be joined by Austin Scelzo on fiddle and Noah Harrington on bass.
