Dear followers of Le Breton Yachts,

2012 has been a special year for Le Breton Yachts with many highlights. It seems fitting as we approach the end of the year to reflect on just a few of them.

Our second SIG45 hit the water in the spring, and has been tearing up the waters of San Francisco Bay and Banderas Bay in Mexico – she has quite a few miles under her slender hulls now. And she has reached speeds of well over 28 knots – not bad for a 45ft luxury yacht with two bathrooms, three cabins, all electric winches and air conditioning!

Gregor Vlasblom joined the team early this year, supporting our marketing and sales activities. He crewed on the SIG45 during the Rolex Big Boat Series, and many of you will have met him at the Cannes and Annapolis boat shows. Behind the scenes, our fantastic new investor has been working with us to prepare for big things in 2013 – watch this space!

In the autumn, we won an industry award for the SIG45 – great to get some recognition from a panel of editors of all the most prestigious US sailing magazines! Over the course of the year, we have developed three beautiful new models to add to our range – the SIG60, SIG60GT and the SIG80 (see below).  We are looking forward to commencing the build of the first SIG60 early in 2013!

Last, and certainly not least, we have reached 1000 likes on our new Facebook page. Your support is enormously valuable to us – keep on checking in and look out for a little competition in the New Year!

Wishing you happiness and health in 2013,

Hugo Le Breton

SIG45 wins award for Most Innovative Yacht
We are delighted to announce that the SIG45 has won the AIM Editors’ Choice award for “Most Innovative New Sailboat”. We enormously appreciate this prestigious  award, and hope to continue to be at the forefront of innovation in the industry for many years.

We proudly announce the SIG80
We proudly announce our brand new SIG80 Design. The SIG80 is an ultra-high performance luxury yacht. Sharing its stunning lines with its smaller SIG sisters, this elegant yacht offers vast and sumptuous accommodation on a raceboat-derived platform. Le Breton Yachts has developed this pioneering addition to its range in collaboration with the world’s top racing multihull design firm Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost(VPLP) and Adam Voorhees Design.The SIG80 will be a fast and powerful boat. A coherent and ergonomic deck layout is absolutely essential. The guiding principle is ease of handling with a small professional crew.

The 80 is a semi-custom yacht. The interior layout and finish can be refined according to the owner’s tastes. The yacht is offered with an accommodation layout, which has been designed in collaboration with Adam Voorhees design

The heart of the accommodation is naturally the vast saloon. The standard layout saloon offers four distinct areas:
  • Dining/lounge table and sofas;
  • Separate relaxation area with entertainment centre and day bed;
  • Two person forward facing nav station;
  • Open plan galley with island.
The saloon is on the same level as the cockpit, with double sliding doors creating a huge indoor/outdoor space.

In the hulls, the SIG80 features two aft master suites and two guest staterooms (all en-suite). Forward of the guest staterooms, accessed through deck hatches, are an en-suite crew cabin for two, and a workshop / laundry.

A Sail Geek’s Guide
If you are looking for an absolutely wonderful book about sailing and the sea, I cannot recommend Eric Newby’s “The Last Grain Race” highly enough. Englishman Eric Newby was 18 years old in 1938, when, on a whim inspired by a family friend, he signed up as an apprentice on board the Finnish four-masted barquentine, Moshulu, for a return trip to Australia. His chronicle of the journey, the vessel and his sometimes eccentric fellow crew is fascinating, perceptive and often hilarious. A true classic read.
