Welcome to STEAM Surge!
Currently the rooms of SGS are filled with architects, creating blueprints for tree houses that take into account both the environment and the special needs of the ewoks living there. Down the hall there are students using neuro-engineering to create prosthetics or other tools to aid those who have lost a sense. And just next door, a group of girls are creating their own musical instrument with circuitry and coding. Welcome to STEAM Surge.
For the next two weeks, our students are diving into these projects and more. Spending time in a fast-paced environment with a mixed-grade group, STEAM Surge is the best of SGS's hands-on and interdisciplinary project-based curriculum dialed up to 11.

Space Gals (tonight!)
Join us at Seattle Girls’ School on December 6th (that's today!) from 6-8 PM for an exciting partnership between SGS and members of the Space Gals, five great women working in Seattle’s vibrant space sector. We’ll hear more about the growth of this industry in the Puget Sound region and the personal experiences of these women working on opening the space frontier. This group is sure to inspire current students, alumnae, and families alike as we hear about their journeys into the aerospace industry. Please RSVP to RSVP@seattlegirlsschool.org
Fall Fund: Help us reach 100%
Only one week left! The Fall Fund is a significant and yearly effort, which provides much needed funding for mission-critical programs and expenses and helps make up the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating a girl at SGS. Let's lead the way and make the transformative SGS education a reality for every student, you can donate here »
Supporting Our Girls Through the Middle School Years
Join us at SGS on Tuesday, December 13th from 6-8 PM for an engaging evening with SGS founding faculty and Outreach Specialist Rosetta Lee as she talks about puberty, teenhood, identity search, relationship drama, and self doubt. Becoming a middle school girl can be fraught with challenges at every corner. How do we keep our girls resilient through this turbulent time? Examine the crossroads of socio-emotional and identity development, gender differences and bias, and adolescent brain and body changes that your girls are entering. What does the research say about best practices toward resilience, excellence, healthy relationships, and self esteem - and how does Seattle Girls’ School specifically apply the practices? Please RSVP to RSVP@seattlegirlsschool.org
Garden Work Parties
Let's face it, winter is a terrible season for gardening. However, the SGS garden needs some garden heroes to bring it back to life before the spring! Work parties will be from 3:45-4:45 every Monday through January, where we will be weeding, pruning, mulching, and wheelbarrow-ing. Tools, gloves, snacks, and learning will be provided by SGS! If you are interested in being a garden hero, you can sign up here and be sure to bring clothes you don't mind getting muddy.
