A time of war
As we pray this month, we cannot overlook the human anguish and suffering of our Ukrainian friends, including Christian brothers and sisters.  Their afflictions are the result of evil and Satanic activity.  We hope you and your church are both praying and taking practical and financial steps to provide relief.
This reminds us that spiritual battles abound all around us, and it is important that we learn how to wage war in the spiritual realm.  That is our focus throughout this month.

Begin with worship:
If we fail to bring glory to Jesus Christ, we will soon forget that Satan is a defeated foe.  So let’s begin by worshiping our Savior.  Here are six specific ways that he has secured our victory.  Take some time to look up each of the scriptures below and then use these to offer praise and thanks for what Jesus has done to our enemy.  He:
  • Destroyed him - Hebrews 2:14-15
  • Rescued us from him - Colossians 1:13
  • Disarmed him - Colossians 2:15
  • Crushed him - Romans 16:20
  • Overcame him - Revelation 17:14
  • Toppled him - Revelation 12:9
Doing battle in prayer:
Engaging in warfare praying will ideally involve these three simple steps:
  1. Affirming God’s truth revealed in His word.
  2. Praying for the enemy’s defeat in specific areas.
  3. Asking in faith for the new things that will fill that void.
Here are some examples being applied to one of the life spheres:
  1. Affirm in prayer the truth about Jesus undergirding your prayer (Example, “Thank you, Jesus, that you came to destroy the works of the devil in the realm of education.”), and the reality about Satan (“I believe that he his is a defeated foe.”).
  2. Make a pointed request for the defeat of Satan in a specific area (Example, “So I resist the enemy as I ask you to frustrate his efforts to confuse and deceive people in our region through the biases and godless world views of journalists and writers in media and the arts.”)
  3. Ask in faith for God to reverse this activity and to replace it with His work. (Example: “Instead, use powerful people in government to secure freedom for the gospel, to bring justice to the enslaved, and to raise up influencers who will acknowledge God’s rule, affirm God’s righteous standards, and elevate good and godly people.”
Waging war
Now let’s apply these three warfare steps and pray against specific Satanic schemes in each of the nine spheres of kingdom life:
1.  Education  -
Pray against the Deceiver (Revelation 12:9) whose lies permeate much of educational curricula and teaching.
2.  Government  -
Pray against the Ruler of this World (Ephesians 6:12) who wants to use those holding positions of power to enslave peoples and hinder the gospel of Christ.
3.  Business  -
Pray against the Tempter (Matthew 4:3) who wants to imprison people in the bondages of materialism, greed, and vain pursuits.
4.  Families  -
Pray against the Lawless One (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10) who wants families to fall into chaos, children into delinquency, and marriages into unfaithfulness.
5.  Media\Arts  -
Pray against the Blinder of Eyes (2 Corinthians 4:4) who seeks to use messages to lock people in “this world” absorption and to keep them from seeking God.
6.  Public Safety/Military  -
Pray against the Imprisoner (Revelation 2:10) who wants to use many with human authority to sustain injustice and restrict gospel freedom at home or abroad.
7.  Healthcare \ Social Service  -
Pray against the Accuser (Revelation 12:10) who drives people into self-hate, guilt complexes, and suicidal depression.
8.  The Church  -
Pray against the Thief (Matthew 13:19) who steals and destroys spiritual fruit and brings spiritual decline to those who were once vibrant in their faith.
9.  Racial Harmony  -
Pray against the Wolf (John 10:12) who would scatter the sheep and divide them against one another based on skin color, culture, and social status.
