Hey Awesome Ladies!
There's a lot that's been happening since last we spoke.
I, Adrienne Mackey your fearless leader, have been busy. Here are just a few examples:
1) I wrapped an amazing directing project called WELCOME TO CAMPUS at Drexel University. Those little people are amazing and the theater they create is fierce and honest and also pretty awesome.
2) I read about a conference in D.C. called "The Summit" that sparked a lot of controversy about gender parity in the arts and it's sparked me into a fervor of dialogue. I've written a bit about #thesummit here in case you want a little background. I also got in touch with some of the folks down there trying to take that response and turn it into something useful. Turns out they are trying to do some Awesome Lady work there as well.
3) In response to some of the things that came out of the twitter hullabaloo that was #thesummit I've committed to writing a new post (nearly) every day for this entire month, which just happens to also be women's history month. You can check out the blog (www.swimponypa.wordpress.com) for that.
4) I'm unveiling the Squad's first project: The Awesome Lady Manifesto!!!
I want to hammer out a code of ethics for how the Awesome Lady Squad will function. So we'll be meeting at Headlong Studios (formerly The Parlor) at 1170 S Broad from 7 - 9:30pm on March 23rd and 24th (that's a Sunday and Monday) to lock down our awesomeness into a concise working document.
Want in? It's awesome to RSVP so I have a sense of group size, but if you realize you can make it and just want to drop in, that's cool too. You can come to both or just one, we'll love your input either way.
Can't make it or just need to get your awesomeness out now? Check out this link to submit thoughts online or see what we'll be up to.
I'll send another reminder a little closer to the date, but feel free to stay in touch about the awesome things you're doing. Erlina Dahiana for example recently invited me to this awesome looking panel discussion on Latino/a playwrights.
