Bond information

Clearwater USD 264 is holding a bond election on April 25. The main goals of the bond project are to address security and safety, mechanical systems, roof and parking lot improvements, and other facility needs. There is a committee working on providing information for the community that will be rolled out in March.

The Times-Sentinel newspaper wrote an informative article about the project in this week's edition. However, the article did not accurately report the correct amount of the bond issue, stating that the total amount is for $24.3 million. The actual total is $15,820,000. The capital improvement budget for the bond is $15,231,143, with the remaining balance of the proceeds going towards the required financing Costs of Issuance and for Capitalized Interest.

The Times-Sentinel regrets the mistake. I appreciate their desire to inform our community about the project and other school related activities.

Library News

We want to know what you think, how can we improve the Clearwater Public Library? We are doing a survey to obtain your thoughts on your library. You may fill out a paper survey which will be at the Library or you can go to the following link and take the survey online. This link is also posted on our Facebook page and our Website. The survey will last until March 13th, then we will compile the information and make decisions accordingly. By completing the survey you could win two tickets to the Orpheum Performing Arts Centre Classic Film Series.

The Clearwater Public Library is having yet another contest, actually two contests, for Saint Patrick’s Day.  The contest begins on March 1st and ends on March 15th so the winners have time to pick up their prizes by St. Paddy’s Day.  All you have to do to enter either contest is come into the library, check out a book or DVD, put your full name and contact information in the appropriate box.  Winners names will be randomly drawn and will be contacted and names published.  One contest is for adults 21 or older and the prize is a gift certificate to the local “First and Last” bar, the second contest is for all those under the age of 21 and they will be able to choose a prize from the prize box.

Spud Bar a success!

Every year the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce presents one deserving CHS senior with a scholarship. In order to fund this scholarship, the Chamber does an annual Chili Feed during the Winter Royalty game. This year we expanded and made it a Spud Bar and Chili Feed. Thank you to all who came out and helped support this great cause. You can see more pictures by clicking here.

Extreme Home Makeover “Clearwater Style”

Georgia Purdom is a longtime Clearwater resident that works for our school system. Georgia became widowed 3 years ago. With no savings and no one to help her with projects, her house is in need of a little love. We want to show Georgia, her family, and her home the love that Clearwater can provide. Several exterior projects are happening the last two weekends in March. We will be working on replacing a portion of the siding, painting, tearing down and rebuilding the back deck and front porch, tree removal, yard clean up, landscaping, etc. Thank you for praying for the project. You can sign-up to volunteer to help with projects, feed the volunteers or give financially. Please visit the Facebook page “LOVE Clearwater” to view a video of Georgia’s story as well as the links to sign up for these projects and a link to donate. Business of the month

The Clearwater Chamber of Commerce is proud of our members! Each month we plan to highlight a deserving "business of the month."

This month we are highlighting Lauer Service Restoration and Repair. Lauer's has been doing business in the area since 1982. They have done classic car restoration and general car/truck repair. They take on all types of repair (engine, trans, electrical, suspension) except body work. They are also opening a car dealership, Lauer Motor Company, in the Executive Center at 226 E Ross in the next month or so. They will be providing quality vehicles that will have all been maintained through their shop. For more information visit them on Facebook or call 620-584-2096.
