Javier Ruperez image   Diplomat, politician and published author, was Spain’s Ambassador to the US between 2000 and 2004. He had been Ambassador to the Madrid Session of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe and Ambassador to NATO. He was Assistant Secretary General and Executive Director of the Counterterrorism Committee at the United Nations Security Council in New York He was a Senator and Member of Parliament in Spain, as well as President of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Defense Committee in the Spanish Congress. He was also President of the Parliamentary Assemblies of both NATO and the OSCE.
