Our 8th Women's* Football & Culture Festival is on the way: under the motto of "Fair Play", we bring female football players and coaches from all around the world together to the heart of Berlin. From July 30 to August 4, we will rock the Willy Kressmann Stadium with our football tournaments and cultural events. The opening ceremony will be on Tuesday, 30 July at 6 pm.

The call for applications for teams and referees is now available on our website until 22 April 2019 (http://www.discoverfootball.de/en/home/).

Besides, we are planning various activities for the FIFA Worldcup in France, a conference in Berlin regarding sexual identity and sport in October, and our 10th anniversary celebratin in the end of the year. More about these topics can be found in this news letter.

DISCOVER FOOTBALL in Lyon

This summer the FIFA World Cup takes place in France. DISCOVER FOOTBALL will be on site to report the atmosphere of Lyon to you. At the same time, we are going to support the projects during the World Cup period so that we can draw as much as attention to the women's* football.
As one of our campaigns, we will participate in achieving the world record with Equal Playing Field. The goal of this challenge is that 3,500 women* players play football non-stop for 5 days (Online registration here)
In addition, we are participating in the Streetfootballworld Festival 2019. We will train the Young Leaders between 15 and 18 years old through the workshops, helping them to break the stereotypes.
"We hope you enjoy the World Cup and are looking forward to
the exciting campaigns and football matches!"
 Conference  Sport Disrupted: Sex_uality Matters
October 30-31, 2019 @ Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung/Berlin

Sport is about performance only, so sports organisations claim, and sports policies promote sports for all. Yet, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) still affect participation. Grassroots and nonprofit LGBTIQ initiatives, activist athletes, sports policy makers and social scientists will discuss:
  • effects of sports gender binary and heteronormativity on amateur and professional athletes
  • consequences of homophobia / transphobia / interphobia on the daily lives of amateurs and professionals
  • sports as tool for empowering LBGTIQ people
  • visions and possibilities for an inclusive and non-binary sports world
  • challenges for and the meaning of fair competition
  • lessons to learn from non-binary grass roots sports and LGBTIQ projects
This conference is a cooperation of DISCOVER FOOTBALL, Bilitis (Bulgaria), LEAP Scotland (UK) and Civil Works (Ungary) and is framed by the Erasmus+ project "Diverse Identities in Sports" as well as the Dreilinden foundation.

Subsequent to the conference, we invite you to a Donor Post-conference on November 1, 2019 in cooperation with Dreilinden-Stiftung and Global Philanthropy Project.

Review 2018  International Referees and Coaches Conference
In December 2018, DISCOVER FOOTBALL invited 30 international women* referees and trainers to the conference in Berlin. Its goal was to enhance the solidarity and bonds betweeen women* trainers and referees. These two positions in football often conflict against each other but they also have the most significant influence on a fair play.
