Dear Camp Friends and Families,

A month ago we made the announcement that Lake Nixon’s summer day camp would not take place this year during June. Today, we want to let you know that we have decided to cancel day camp for the entire summer. We reached this difficult decision after closely following the development of guidelines for the operation of camps this summer from national organizations such as the American Camp Association, waiting for this week’s updated directive from the Arkansas Department of Health, and considering the application of all this to every aspect of our program.
Sadly, this is not the summer for our traditional day camp, with around 250 campers a week, and lake swimming as a central activity. As parents of Lake Nixon campers ourselves, we are especially disappointed to share this news, but we do believe that this decision is the right one for all concerned as we seek to safeguard the health of campers, their families, and the greater community.

All families who have already made payments may request a full refund by contacting Jeremy Spann ( or Andy Black ( You may also request that any amount already paid be applied as a credit toward a future facility rental or next year’s camp. Everyone who registered for camp this year will have a priority status when registering for Summer 2021 next year. Finally, I invite you to consider designating all or some of the funds already paid as a donation to the Lake Nixon Outdoor Center. You can also make online donations at this link.

Second Baptist Church offers the Lake Nixon Outdoor Center to our community as a place for recreation, education, and sanctuary in God's beautiful creation, and this mission goes on. We have enjoyed seeing camp families here at Lake Nixon during the last few months. You can sign up for a time come out here for hiking, fishing, etc. by visiting this link: Please follow @lakenixon on Facebook and Instagram and @lakenixonsummerdaycamp on Facebook for updates about other events and opportunities at Lake Nixon for you and your family this summer.

Finally: since the beginning of April, Second Baptist Church has designated 20% of all tithes and offerings received to go toward individuals and organizations experiencing financial and other hardship. If you or anyone you know is in need of help, please see the application for assistance at:

Thank you for including Lake Nixon in your summer plans. We wish the best for all of you.
