Online Worship at St. John's this Sunday Suspension of In-Person Worship Extended Bishop Waldo has now directed congregations in Upper South Carolina to worship by live stream at least through May 31.
The Sixth Sunday of Easter has a tone of anticipated grief, looking toward the Ascension, celebrated next Thursday. There came a point in the Resurrection when Jesus returned to the nearest presence of the Father, what we call “the right hand of God.” The disciples would have feared such a day and wondered how they would carry on. Christ promised not to leave them as orphans and to send a Spirit who would guide and sustain them. Today’s lessons offer us hope and divine presence in our season of loss and exile from the people, places, and activities we love.
For the anthem this Sunday, Michael Brown will sing the hymn "Golden Harps are Sounding" from the 1940 Hymnal. This tune is by Sir Arthur Sullivan, most famous for his late 19th century stage collaborations with W. S. Gilbert.
12 Days of Beautiful We give thanks over the past 12 days for those who have nurtured our grounds and made them beautiful by weeding, pruning and planting flowers. If you want to mulch the grounds over the next few weeks, please email Gene Bell firstname.lastname@example.org.
Family Ministries If your child is graduating from high school this spring, please email Maggie at email@example.com. We are working on ways to recognize our seniors before they begin their next chapters, and we don't want to miss anyone!
Check your inboxes for an email from Family Ministries about some upcoming projects and events! We will be celebrating our seniors through online videos. If you have memories with or of the seniors of St. John's, please join with our congregation in congratulating these young people on their next steps. Find that link in the Family Ministries e-mail.
We will also be live on Facebook at 4 pm today for storytime with Ms. Maggie. Join us there, or use it later for a bedtime story!
