Electronic, psychedelic pop band Spill Gold formed in the Netherlands in 2017, releasing their debut self titled EP at the end of that year. Born from members of Dutch dream-pop ensemble Bird On The Wire, they have gone on to tour around the world, sharing stages with the likes of Exploded View and Beak>.
Today, they announce new single, "Dali", due 5th April, along with a video for the track. Written as "a musical impression of what would happen if Dalí was sipping on a pina colada in your house", its soft textures and minimal glitches slowly build up to form a dream-like, hazy soundscape.
Synth wizard Jochem van Tol aso joined them for the recording, and the song was mastered by Uwe Teichert in Brussels, who also counts Nick Cave amongst his clients and mastered Yann Tiersen’s soundtrack to the film Amelie.

Spill Gold - Dali
Spill Gold say of "Dali": "We recorded the song in Studio Meduse MagiQ, which is pretty much our creative home so that felt very good. It was also our first time to work like this with producer Roy van Rosendaal, which was a beautiful experience. The song has had many variations, and live it can still sound different every time.
We wanted to for a more dance-able approach for this recording, and [drummer] Nina de Jong also used a special instrument, made by Dutch experimental instrument builder Yuri Landman, that basically lets you play anything as long as it is made out of metal. It's a weird, poppy, song to dance to."
They have just completed a tour of Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands supporting Beak>, and will be returning to UK soils for a short April tour and festivals in 2019 in support of a brand new single ‘Dali’:
13th April - This Is Psych Festival, Folkestone (tickets)
14th April - Thinking Not Thinking Festival, Birmingham (tickets)
16th April - Hatch, Sheffield (tickets)
17th April - Soup Kitchen, Manchester (supporting Camera) (tickets)
18 April - Rough Trade, Bristol (tickets)
19 April - Waiting Room, London (tickets)
20 July - Blue Dot Festival (tickets)
The Amsterdam-based trio are part of feminist art and sound collective, Meduse MagiQ, and conjure up vivid, spiraling stories with eerie, persistent songs. Spill Gold urge you to lose yourself in dreams and pour out the best you’ve got, streaming and unrestrained. Let it out and get drenched bathing in it.
Their self titled EP was re-released via Portland based label Beacon Sound (Colleen, Peter Broderick, Terry Riley) on deluxe cassette format on October 13 2018 for Cassette Store Day, with the addition of 5 brand new remixes by members of U.S Girls (4AD), Doomsquad (Bella Union), Virginia Wing (Fire Records) & more.
The band is currently writing their debut album around the theme of trance-like states.
