In 2021, Pope Francis has declared a Year of Saint Joseph and The Year of the Family.  May you and your family experience many blessings and graces as we focus on the domestic Church. Saint Joseph, pray for us!

Pastoral Priorities 2021: Homelessness
“For you always have the poor with you...” Matt 26.11 We heard Jesus express this to his Apostles in Matt’s gospel only a few weeks ago. The phrase is as true for us today, as it was then. We know everywhere around us there are many who go without or have to make difficult choices about what basic necessities they can afford. Living through a global pandemic has only highlighted the needs of those who are vulnerable. If the poor are always with us, then as followers of Christ today we must always seek ways to help those in need. When Archbishop Dunn moved to Halifax, he was struck by the number of poor and vulnerable he came across as he walked down the street. Moved by this new-to-him experience he reflected on what he could do, and what we as a people faith could do.

Congratulations to Katie Andrews (Corpus Christi), Bruce Muise (Notre Dame de l'Assomption), Mark Carew (Saint Andre Bessette), Shannon McDonald (Saint Andre Bessette), Roberta Courtney (Saint Benedict), Elizabeth Galsworthy (Our Lady of Guadalupe), Andrew Hachey (Saint Benedict), and Donna Reindorf (Saint John of the Cross) on the successful completion of EQUIP, the Archdiocesan program of formation for the New Evangelization.

Global Prayer Marathon in May
Pope Francis invites Catholics around the world to take part in a global prayer initiative. The faithful are invited to pray the rosary every day in May to seek Mary’s intercession to end the global pandemic. Thirty Marian shrines from various parts of the world will host a livestreamed recitation of the rosary.

National Bishop Reporting System
Late last week dioceses across Canada launched the Canadian Reporting System for Sexual Abuse or Cover-up by a Catholic Bishop. This tool initiated by the Canadian Bishops and supported by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), is a national reporting system gives individuals the opportunity to report sexual abuse or cover-up by a Canadian Bishop.
