Nelson DeMille Recommends . . .

Since we are currently only able to ship new, unsigned books directly from our distributor (what with Coronavirus keeping nonessential businesses shuttered in NYC), we reached out to a few of our friends to ask their suggestions for those hunkered down in a state of social isolation.

Here's what Nelson DeMille came up with:

"I've chosen all classics in the mystery/crime genre because I personally find that old mystery novels are the best escapist literature, which, along with old Scotch whiskey, is what we need now."

"First and foremost: The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.  We've all read this but read it again."

"The Black Tower by P.D. James.  Her writing is exquisite, and her characters are unforgettable."

"Fer-de-lance by Rex Stout.  Or any Nero Wolfe book will do.  These books are time trips to New York City in the 1930s and ‘40s."

"The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie.  My favorite of the Hercule Poirot books.  Agatha's simplistic writing style becomes soothing."

"The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler.  Or any Philip Marlowe mystery.  I love the sardonic wit, 1930s style."

"The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett.  Yes, we've all read it and seen the movie.  Buy a new copy and read it again."
