A message from the President

Hey OYFA!

Be on the lookout for any e-mails that will be sent out soon from us regarding our possible summer activities, including an upcoming Filipino Festival and some great fundraising events. We will definitely keep you all updated! 
 
On behalf of OYFA, I would like to thank all of the Fourth Years for everything; you guys have made our college lives so memorable and enjoyable. I wish you guys all the best in all of your future endeavors! 
 
Good luck to those who are finishing finals, have an awesome (and safe) summer, and see you all in the fall!

Hey OYFAm!

Thanks to all of you that came out to support FASA at Virginia Tech for their culture show this past weekend! It was another amazing show from our fabulous district. Speaking of our district… D what? D7!!! Keep thinking of a new chant and make a video of it if you come up with anything!

Also if any of you are considering running for a D7 executive board position, the elections will be June 8th at ODU beginning at 12 PM. Contact either Jor(jvt2de) or me(jap8ew) if you’re interested in any position and we’ll talk you through the details.

Tell us about yourself! 
Hey everyone! My name is Michael and I'm a first year on the pre-med track looking to major in Economics and possibly a minor in Biology or Chemistry. I'm 3/4 Filipino and a quarter Chinese, born and raised in northern Virginia, and I love hanging out with friends, watching movies, and listening to R&B.

What does a typical day for you look like?
A typical day for me usually starts off by waking up late and rushing to class, then chilling with my friends at the MAC or Clark and grabbing a meal at Newcomb. I love keeping up with friends and enjoying their company, which usually leads to no productivity and/or late nights. Afternoons and evenings are usually spent either studying or at meetings, and the process repeats itself. Maybe if I have time I'll hit up the gym to play some pick-up basketball or volleyball on the sand courts.

What do you love about OYFA?
I love OYFA because I feel that it's a place where anyone can feel that they belong somewhere and that they are cared for and appreciated. We do our best to maintain that sense of family and togetherness that we need, and we're such a diverse group in terms of personalities that you never get tired of the people you're with. OYFA's made my first year here at UVA an awesome experience, and I hope the next three years will be as fun and amazing as this one!

As the year is almost over, this week's WIO is the last one for the semester! I look forward to starting it up again in the fall when our OYFAmily is back together.
