A Message from Executive Board:

Hey OYFA,

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break! Thank you everyone for all of your support so far for our emergency typhoon relief campaign. We have raised almost $4,000! There are still a few more things you can do to help out the Typhoon Haiyan victims!

1. OYFA's Holiday Banquet is this Saturday, December 6th from 6-8PM in the Rotunda Dome Room! It might be your last chance to eat dinner in the dome room since they are closing it until 2016, so sign up! It will be $25 for a great meal with performances from Academical Village People, Radio Music Society, Hoos in Treble, and Choose! 100% of the proceeds will go to the Philippine Red Cross. Click here to sign up for the Holiday Dome Room Banquet!

2. Want to own a cool looking t-shirt that also helps out a great cause? We have Typhoon Haiyan Relief t-shirts for you! Click here for the shirt design, and if you are interested in getting one, please click this link to sign up (the form is non-binding!). Each shirt wil be $10, and they might not come by next week, so just look out for more information from us soon! Proceeds from shirt sales will also benefit the Philippine Red Cross.

Thank you again for all of your support for our campaign and everything OYFA related this semester! Hope to see you all sometime this week, we still have a few events for you before finals season start :)

Love,
OYFA Exec Board

HELLOOOOO OYFANS!

Preparations for BARRIO 2014 are well underway! Tomorrow is the Choreographers/Committees Meeting at 8:30pm in Maury 209 after the ISIP Session. All committees and choreographers MUST be there. If you cannot make it, email to let us know. It is not too late to be in a committee, so sign up here!

Then, there will be a SKIT COMMITTEE MEETING afterwards! This very important meeting is where we brainstorm ideas for the theme and the plot, so it is very important to get our creative juices flowing and make a masterpiece of a skit! Even if you are not in the Skit Committee, we encourage anyone to come join us!

Finally, we have the list of Traditional Dancers and Modern Dancers ready for you guys!

-If you are unable to perform a traditional dance or no longer want to, please let us know immediately.
-Also, as you can see, we still have spots open for Gaway-Gaway, so if you are interested in dancing, shoot us an email!
-For the Modern Dances, please place an 'x' in the spaces underneath which dances you want to perform beside your name!

FIND

'Sup OYFAns

Jor and I are pretty much done with events for this semester. However, next semester brings lots of fun with our D7 Football Invitational which will be held at VT on February 22 and FIND Conference which will hopefully be held here at UVA sometime in April. Get pumped you guys!

D7 Football Invitational is sort of similar to D7 Olympics, except we only play football. It's pretty self-explanatory. I'd like to believe that Olympics was fun for everyone, so if you enjoyed yourself then, you'll enjoy yourself in February, wheeeeeeee!!!!! Look out for when Sports is going to hold football practices, so we can be on our game! We gotta show them how OYFA does, nahmsayin'??

Peace y'all,
Jor(jvt2de) & Jasmine(jap8ew)

Trivia Challenge

Be the first to answer back with at least one correct answer to be the next featured OYFAN! But wait! If you answer back with both answers by the end of this week (midnight on Sunday), you will be entered into the Week In OYFA Raffle for a chance to win a prize at the next general meeting if you attend! Remember, the raffle is renewed every month so keep participating!

1. What OYFA events are happening tomorrow and where?

2. I'm Maisie Finley's little, in the Igorot family! Guess Hoo?

This week's Featured OYFAn is Michael Ramada!

Tell us a little about yourself! My name is Nico and I'm a 4th year, born and raised in Haiti. I'm an easy-going guy, love to play sports (mainly soccer though). I will be graduating next May with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Business Spanish. When I'm not out playing soccer, I'm probably watching soccer or talking about it. Other things I love to do are listen to music (EDM and Haitian music are my favorite but I like everything), watch movies (hit me up for some movie nights!), or sleep. Shout out to my Lubi-Lubis, my Singkils, Luc Pham's lineage, and my littles (Anuja, Jonathan, Kishan, Laura).

Favorite GIF? https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7926266880/hFE2C49C8/ because we all have rough days sometimes

Favorite OYFA memory: Going to IHOP after the first general meeting my first year, where i was introduced a huge group of some of the most friendly people I'd met so far. That introduction to OYFA was definitely overwhelming but at the same time really exciting, and I'm definitely glad that I was able to experience something new like that right when I started college

Answers to the previous trivia questions:
1.
 OYFA Symposium featuring Rex Navarrete!

2. Lauren Baldonaldo
