While temperatures across Colorado begin to drop, Grand Junction is one of the few areas in the state that has comfortable autumn temperatures through November, so leisurely drives and comfortable hikes are always enjoyable.
Where to trek you ask? Known as one of the grandest scenic drives in the American West is Rim Rock Drive in Colorado National Monument (CNM). Often referred to as a mini Grand Canyon, this park has easily accessible overlooks and the added bonus is the lack of crowds. CNM is only six miles from Downtown Grand Junction, so plan to take the breathtaking drive or hike among the magnificent red rock canyons - there are over 40 miles of trails, all of which provide pure solitude.
