From global to local:
Joining forces to help global standards create local impact

(On the occasion of the celebration of the success
of the Vienna Agreement in Europe)

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), and Austrian Standards International (A.S.I) are joining forces to organize a high-level online event to take place on 11 October, 2021. The event will explore the strategic importance of aligning regional standardization with the international context and reflect on its future evolution.

In our world, challenges are increasingly global, and require cooperation across different levels: international, regional and national/local. Thanks to the participation of high-level professionals and standardization experts, the event will explore how the cooperation model between ISO and CEN, in the form of the Vienna Agreement, has been one successful example in making this type of cooperation possible. Furthermore, the event will provide a forum to present and discuss the various cooperation models and perspectives in other regions of the world, together with some best practices of ISO members to implement international standards at the national level.

The Vienna Agreement, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has ensured over the years the adaptation and implementation of international standards in Europe, supporting the Single Market and contributing to world trade while avoiding duplication.

CEN, ISO and A.S.I invite you to save the date for this interactive online event and hope you will join us and contribute to the conversation on this important topic.

WHEN: 11 October 2021, 11.30-14.30 (CEST time)
WHERE: Online. More information to follow.
