Launch your career this autumn

With a new academic year starting September is often a time for new starts for all of us. The Future Bright Team are ready to offer even more local residents FREE careers coaching to help them move forwards in their working lives.

We are excited to be able to share the amazing stories of some of our participants. Keep reading to find out more.

Louise's Story

When Louise started working with Future Bright she was burnt out and looking for a change. A difficult period in her life, coupled with a challenging job, meant that she needed to revaluate her priorities. Louise’s Career Progression Coach, Carol, was a sounding board, support and cheerleader as Louise applied for new roles and eventually secured a job with Wessex Water.

Once Louise had settled into her new job she started to explore her dream of becoming a yoga teacher.  Carol helped Louise to secure funding to move forwards with her yoga training and linked her up with support to help her set up her own business. Wessex Water have been very supportive of Louise’s business and she is now running yoga sessions for their staff. Louise is planning to expand her business and run classes and retreats in the UK and abroad. Louise is loving both her jobs and looking forwards to the future.

We asked Louise if she had any advice for people when considering joining the Future Bright programme, this is what she said,

“DO IT! If you can think it in your mind, they will do their best to make it a reality! You never know how radically different your life can be if you just have a moments courage to go for it!”

Waseem's Story

Waseem had been working as a decorator, but due to the pandemic had lost most of his work. He had been applying for alternative jobs with little success and felt that he needed to upskill to increase his chances of finding work.

Waseem worked with his Future Bright Career Progression Coach, Simon, to explore different career options. Waseem decided to study software development with the hope of getting a job in tech. He worked with his coach to update his CV and start applying for jobs. His coach also helped him to secure funding for a new computer so he could develop his coding and design portfolio, which he needed to apply for new roles. Waseem has now secured a software development job.

Waseem is delighted with his new role and says, “A new career in tech will open up so many doors for me and allow me to contribute to my community with a set of skills that is in short supply. The relief of the career change has had a massive positive impact on my mental health. I’m incredibly grateful to have been given the chance and boost from Future Bright to get me there.

“I had no idea that there were organisations out there such as Future Bright that can really help you to realise your own capabilities and give you the support to make the big next step.”

Dominika's Story

When the pandemic hit Dominika lost significant part of her income and was also juggling her working and family life. She approached Future Bright because she needed to boost her earnings. Dominika wanted to use her experience in early years to open her own business offering outdoor learning to children.

Dominika’s Career Progression Coach, Simon, linked her up with Cool Ventures who offer specialist support to small businesses. They helped Dominika get to grips with everything that would be needed to run her own business and she started to trail some outdoor learning groups in the school holidays.

Dominika’s Career Progression Coach helped her to access funding to pay some additional training and to develop her website. By the start of 2021 Dominika was ready to get her outdoor learning company ‘Creative Roots’ registered with Ofsted and running throughout the year. Dominika now has a successful business which she hopes will grow. She says,

“All the support and guidance was amazing and life changing…. Join the future Bright ! It’s like having your own guardian angel. “
