  • The Donner Lake Triathlon is a United States Triathlon Association Sanctioned Event. You can CLICK HERE to view commonly violated rules.
  • Important Rule Reminders:
    1. Fixed gear bikes are prohibited and may not be used. All bikes must have bar end caps.
    2. There is no drafting on the bike course.
    3. Obey the centerline on the bike course. Do not cross over it at any time.

    4. Headphones (iPods, etc.) are not permitted during the race. This is for your safety.

    5. Your helmet must be worn and buckled at all times during the cycling portion.
  • West End Beach Rules: Please respect this amazing event venue by following all Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District Rules. All beaches are open to registered participants showing their race numbers. Spectators are required to pay a $5.00 fee to enter the facility at the main entrance to West End Beach
  • Kids Triathlon - One parent is allowed in with each child that is participating in the kids triathlon
  • No dogs are allowed on West End Beach. Please be sure to follow the No Dogs policy inside all gated areas of West End Beach.
  • Click here for the Schedule and your packet pick up times!
  • At check-in and onsite registration, ALL athletes are required to show photo ID including all relay participants. Youth, 17 years of age and younger athletes must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID.
  • Annual USAT members are required to bring their membership card.
  • Military Discounts, if you received one we will need to see your Military ID.
  • Athletes may only pick up their own packets. Under no circumstances may an athlete pick up a packet for another person. Relay Team members may pick up packets individually or with team members.

  • If an athlete does not bring their USAT membership card to packet pickup they have two options:
    • Locate internet access where a temporary card can be printed or shown on site.
    • Purchase a one-day membership for $15, which can later be applied to a membership renewal by submitting a receipt of purchase.
  • One Day Membership:
    • Athletes that need to purchase a one-day license must sign the USAT waiver if it was not included on the event registration form or process. Annual members do not have to sign a waiver at packet pickup because they already signed it when they applied to become an annual member.
  • Body Marking: Is not required for this event
  • This course is open to vehicle traffic
SPRINT Bike Course Modification
  • For 2021 due to the Road Project the Sprint Bike Course will take place on Donner Pass Road between South Shore Drive and the entrance to Donner Memorial State Park. The course will be approximately 6 miles, out and back, with one turnaround at the half way point.
  • The Sprint Bike Course is OPEN to vehicle traffic.
  • Parking near to the West End Beach of Donner Lake is very limited. On race day, the main parking lot will fill up quickly and a few spaces are reserved for staff/volunteers/vendors. Please respect these spaces and do not remove the cones.
  • Participants and spectators can find parking along Donner Pass Road and in Wolfe Estates. The folks in Wolfe Estates have generously allowed us to park participants in their development, which is located off Donner Pass Road/Old HWY 40 just one-quarter mile up from the intersection of South Shore Drive and Donner Pass Road (and the Transition Area).
  • On race day, please follow the parking signs! Wherever you decide to park on event day, please be sure not to park illegally; this includes blocking driveways, on private property and in areas designated as “no parking.”
  • Park Fees - All athletes will have free entry to park during the event. For the kids triathlon, one parent will be allowed free entry with a child.
  • Bike Support - Make sure your bike is ready to go on race day. We will not have bike support or a mechanic at the venue race morning.
  • We suggest arriving at the site a minimum of one hour prior to your race’s start, in order to get body-marked (optional), set up in the Transition area, warm up, etc.
