Pupil Voice
It was such a pleasure on Thursday to meet with the School Council in the Junior School: a boy and a girl from each year group from Year 2 to Year 6 who articulated the issues gathered from their peers. I would like to thank the parents who brought the children in for such an early start! I am afraid this was the only time we could think of which did not run across different breaktimes and lunchtimes. The issues raised were very sensible, everything from Pizza Monday (difficult for me to hide my enthusiasm) and further ideas to do with the catering which the children were generally very positive about. Some pupils wanted the return of bells; Year 5 asked for a school mascot, but also road safety lessons – what great ideas. We covered other issues such as a Year 3 – 6 newspaper; more outdoor games equipment for Year 3 and flowers in the Year 2 playground. In short, it was a really impressive meeting. The pupils had filtered the ideas so that perhaps some of the more extreme items did not reach the room. There were many ideas which would have received approval from the teachers such as from Year 2, a request for an additional Science Day.
Pupil Quiet
It is always incredibly powerful when the whole school meets in the Quad for our short Remembrance Service. We are all so proud of every pupil from the very youngest to the oldest who are respectful of the men and women who gave their lives so that we can have our everyday ordinary, existence and, indeed, our tomorrows. My particular thanks go to our trumpeter and violinist, Madeleine Adams and Eva Dias, who helped to give the occasion such poignancy.

Associated Board Music Exams for both Juniors and Seniors
There will be two dates for our Associated Board Exams towards the end of the Autumn Term owing to the vast numbers of students involved.

Thursday 1st December will be for the remaining candidates.
Times will be circulated after half term.

Thank you to all that attended the CPA Firework display!
Quiz night success
Last week, our senior school charity organisation, Interact, hosted a quiz night and raised a wonderful total of £625 for Aid Ukraine. The money that was raised will be used to purchase goods to support those in need.
The evening was a big success and the feedback by those that attended was very positive. I would like to thank everyone who attended and donated, as this event would not have been possible without your support. Thank you also to the staff and students who supported the running of a very successful evening.
Ameya, Year 10, President of Interact
Memorial Tablet On 11 November 1921, a small wooden tablet was unveiled at Marlborough House School, Reading. On it are twenty-six names of former pupils and staff who lost their lives in the First World War. To mark the centenary of the Memorial Tablet, the stories of these twenty-six men and many of the survivors are told here. More than that, the experience of Marlborough House and those connected with it tell us the story of the entire war.
Marlborough House was a prep school based in Reading before it merged with Leighton Park and then became Crosfields. This book is of appeal to anyone interested in the First World War, education history, school history, social history, and the history of Reading. Some of the comments received about the book so far:
‘Incredibly moving and informative account of the effect, locally of the First World War’
'It is a work of great scholarship and painstaking research, and yet it is accessible to the general reader.'
'I like the way you have found an occasional place for a bit of humour in spite of the generally sober subject.'
'This is absolutely super. I really like the way you have linked it to the historical background of the conflict.'
The book costs £12.50 plus £2.50 UK postage (if required).
But we are doing a promotional price of £10. Profits arising from the sale of the book will be donated back to the school for bursaries. Crosfields families can order their copy here.
