To say this pandemic has caused worldwide mayhem and devastation would be an understatement and, while so far comparatively, our casualties here have been less than many other countries around the world (and our thoughts go out to them), nevertheless, any number is still too many.

Thankfully, our governments have acted swiftly and, most people have, and are, acting responsibly with social distancing and other measures and this appears to be having the desired result with our numbers gradually heading in the right direction.

But while we’re focusing on numbers, it’s worth bearing in mind we’re not just talking statistics, it’s real people, real families, real lives. And it’s not just direct casualties of the virus either; with so many businesses affected, people out of work, the economic issues, not to mention the physical isolation, the effects are far reaching and touch us all. This is the kind of thing many of us could never have imagined. Sort of makes you stop and think... Perhaps even re-assess.

Fortunately, many marine businesses are still operating, but in Victoria, with the current ban on recreational boating and fishing, there is a lot of confusion and concern and the Boating Industry of Victoria is calling on the government to clarify some of the rules and to change others to assist the industry and to bring us into line with other states, more on that below.

Not enough room to go over all the other stuff in this edition, so sit back, browse through and enjoy the read.

Cheers see you out on the water… Soon I hope..
