September is here! This is my favorite month of the year, as the weather is perfect for hiking and watching football. And it always seems to go by too fast.
Speaking of going too fast, after 5 busy years, I am sad to announce that at the end of this month I will no longer being seeing patients at my Sauk City location. The owner of the space has decided to pursue other passions and will not be renewing the lease. I have looked at a couple of spaces, but nothing feels right at this time. I am, however, excited to be back in Mt Horeb 5 full days a week starting in October! This allows me more time to fill patients' needs at our primary location. And of course any patients who have been treated in Sauk City are encouraged to come visit me in Mt Horeb! Next month I will post my new fall/winter hours.

|Childhood Obesity and Exercise
Christopher Kazda, CPT
Despite the many health benefits associated with regular physical activity, many children and adolescents do not participate in physical activity for the recommended 60 minutes or more each day, resulting in childhood obesity. Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases.

Is Your Child's Backpack Too Large?
Dr. Brenda Trudell, DC
It is that time of year again. School registration, class pictures, fall sports, and school supply shopping for all the kids is upon us. With all of the excitement of heading back to school, sometimes parents overlook an important issue that can greatly affect their child’s health: backpack safety. It might not seem like a big deal, but many children are carrying heavier loads than ever before, and it can really take a toll on a young person’s growing and developing spine, setting them up for injuries down the road.
Learn more about properly fitting backpacks and avoiding injury here.
Essential Oils of the Month: Thieves Anti-Microbial Blend
EaThieves essential oil blend is made up of cloves, lemon, rosemary, cinnamon bark and eucalyptus, and is a potent germ buster, killing bacteria, viruses, mold and other organisms. It is so effective, that there is an entire line of cleaning and disinfecting products that use the Thieves blend as the primary ingredient.
Back-to-school time means exposure to a whole bunch of germs, catching colds, sharing items, etc. While traditional hand sanitizers are effective at killing organisms, they may also be causing some germs to mutate and become harder to kill, and they may also be unsafe for children to ingest or absorb into their skin. You can use Thieves to make your own sprays, wipes, hand sanitizers, etc, and feel safe knowing it won't be creating superbugs or making your children sick. It is my go to essential oil this time of year, especially with cold and flu season approaching.
For more info on how to order these or other essential oils, please call our office at 437-9990, or email Chris firstname.lastname@example.org.
