Happy Black History Month!

While we know the importance of Black History 24/7 —365, we will take a moment each day in February to highlight a dynamic FSU Black Alumnus to celebrate their story and accomplishments.

Upcoming Events
The 1972 NCAA finalist Florida State University (FSU)  Men's Basketball team is being honored/recognized during the FSU vs. Wake Forest basketball game on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 12 noon, at the Donald Tucker Civic Center. 

The team was the first in the south to have five Black starters at a predominantly white university. 

Ten players and their coaches will be recognized, including United States Congressman Alfred "Al"  Lawson, the first black assistant coach at FSU.
The FSU Black Student Union will host several events during Black History Month, and invite Black Alumni to join the celebration.

Volunteers Wanted
In addition to the events sponsored by the BSU during Black History Month, the FSU BA is excited to host a virtual “Speed Networking” Career Fair on Saturday, February 19.

We are looking for Black Alumni business owners and representatives from a wide range of companies/industries to talk with FSU students about the career opportunities that are available to them.

How To Save A Life...
Dr. Shirley Reese, FSU alumna, civil rights pioneer and educator is in dire need of a living kidney donor.

Dr. Reese has served on the front lines for social justice and is truly living history. 

If you are interested in serving as a kidney donor and providing the "Gift of Life" for Dr. Reese, contact her at 404.216.4578.
