More Summer - A summer school in Art, Music and Drama
Firstly, a thank you to all parents and carers for your keen and continuing interest in More Summer Creative Arts Camp.
More Summer is designed to be an enriching experience and a wonderful opportunity for your child to explore their enthusiasm and creativity at More House School. It is aimed at children of 10-13 years, and the whole enterprise is being run by a number of Lower Sixth students at the school, teaching us key skills in project management, finance, marketing and much more!
More Summer will offer a number of interactive workshops specialising in the fields of art, music and drama, where students will be able to work, collaborate and explore with our highly qualified and passionate teaching staff. This is a great opportunity for your child to develop skills in the arts, and to stimulate their imagination alongside their peers in a friendly and caring environment.
The theme this year is Street Art and Performance, so your child will have the opportunity to explore street art through graffiti and pavement art workshops, and street performance of both Music and Drama. Sessions will take place in our Hall, Drama Studio and courtyard, as well as outside in the local area of Knightsbridge and Belgravia.
We are delighted to announce that More Summer will take place from Monday 26th July to Friday 30th July. The scheduled classes are between 10.00am and 3.00pm, and the cost will be £250 for the week, or £50 per day.
More Summer T-shirts will be provided and your child will be given a certificate of accomplishment if they are an active participant for the whole week.
To book a place for your child, please complete the google form using the button below.

Payment of £250 should be made by bank transfer to the following account, stating your child’s surname and More Summer as a reference:

Activities Week
Isle of Wight

For the week of 21 to 25 June, 22 Year 7 girls and 4 very brave teachers embarked on an adventure to the Isle of Wight. With a schedule jam-packed with adrenaline inducing activities, it was an awesome experience. Once we had set up our rooms, the first activity was archery, which proved very entertaining. Highlights for the rest of the week include the 3G swing, zip lining, abseiling, climbing and the leap of faith! The girls embraced these challenges with courage and resilience whilst offering each other support and encouragement.

We also spent two fantastic afternoons on the beach. Beach adventuring gave the girls the chance to paddle, search the rock pools for sea creatures and try out face painting using the chalk rocks at the base of the cliffs. Bodyboarding was the favourite for many girls and after a series of water-based games, the girls tried to catch the very small waves back to shore.

The girls were complimented by all the instructors on their impeccable manners and on their positive attitudes. Well done to each girl for making it such a memorable time away. A very big thank you must go to the accompanying staff: Miss Gunner, Ms Stojanvic, Mrs Mazewski and Mrs Brett.

Horse Riding in the Lake District
Wonderful memories were forged on this unforgettable trip to Witherslack Equestrian Centre in the heart of the Lake District. The pupils, Ms Reid and Ms Calderwood gallantly departed from More House School on Monday morning and took the train from Euston, Northbound. Even the lovely scenery we witnessed on the train could not prepare us for how truly spectacular the scenery was in the heart of the Lake District. Rolling hills, lakes, beautiful countrified walks, green grass and open hearty local smiles greeted us. Amidst the beauty was real physical labour as the pupils rose early, caught in their ponies from the field, brushed, tacked and prepared the ponies for their lessons. Lessons in the mornings and afternoons were expertly guided by Maisie. The pupils’ horse riding prowess has advanced significantly and many pupils have discovered a new found passion. Even the intermittent rain could not dampen the spirits and the horse riding continued with fervour. Evening activities consisted of painting/drawing, evening walks by the lake, hurdles, sack-race and other fun outdoor competitions. Needless to say, by bedtime and after hot chocolate, lights went out quickly as sheer exhaustion filled the space. The pupils certainly will not forget their Northern Irish wake-up call by Ms Reid as they could hear the dulcet tones of her ‘Rise and Shine, ladies’, and a new day was had.

All in all, this was a magical trip and the pupils had such a wonderful time being one with nature. We look forward to many more adventures such as this one.

A big thank you to staff and pupils who facilitated this trip.

Lower Sixth Work Experience
During activities week many of our Lower Sixth students spent 5 days completing their work experience placements in a number of different workplaces and in a wide variety of industries.  We had placements completed at The Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts, Hyperoptics, Investec, Christ Church School Chelsea, Good Faith Partnership and Halo Coffee and it was very encouraging to hear about all the positive experiences that our students had along with the tasks they undertook and how they represented themselves and the school in such a pro-active and professional way.
Here are some insights into our students' experiences and what they got up to:
"Nicole was very good - more than good, on time and efficient" - Sutton and Epsom Rugby Club
"I saw Amba helping out at a family therapy climbing session and, I have to say, I was really impressed with her - she was completely in control, James [work experience provider) evidently trusted her and she was enjoying herself" - Mountainwise
"Phoenix has been helpful and willing to tackle all jobs given to her" - Christ Church School Chelsea
"In regards to work experience I’m enjoying it very much and I’m having a great time adapting and including my philosophical thought with the promotion of compostable materials to help reduce plastic waste from coffee capsules"  (Victoria) - Halo Coffee
It is a pleasure to read these statements and they truly show how our Lower Sixth students rose to the challenge of organising their own work experience, liaising with their work experience provider and then completing their placement with such positivity, energy and gusto.
It is hoped that the last week helped our students to either cement career plans or to allow them to ponder other jobs or professions that they never considered before.
A big well done to you all and good luck with your future career ambitions and aspirations.
Beyond the Beaten Path
On Monday 28th June at 18:30, The More House Players waited with baited breath as the unveiling of Beyond The Beaten Path was premiered. The response from students, teachers, governors and friends has been truly overwhelming. The professionalism, creativity and diligence of the cast has truly been noted and praised. Beyond The Beaten Path, written, directed and performed by The More House Players, challenged and excited audiences as they asked questions, set trials and most importantly, sought help to solve the mysterious events unfolding in the Enchanted Forest.
The drama department are incredibly proud of the cast and their efforts to produce such an imaginative and humous piece of theatre.
If you were unable to attend the premiere and would like to watch the film, please email Miss Jackson directly at

Summer Concert
On Tuesday evening the Music department treated us to an amazing showcase of performances covering Classical, Pop, Jazz and Musical Theatre. Some stunning vocal duets were heard including Delibes's 'Flower Duet' and 'All That Jazz' from Chicago. The audience were evidently moved to hear live music once again and showed their appreciation with enthusiastic applause. Our fabulous peripatetic teachers delighted the crowd with instrumental virtuosity and the brave Grade-1-a-thon entrants showed amazing courage and skill in their performances. All in all, it was a magical evening demonstrating that the creative spirit of More House is very much alive after so many months of restrictions. This concert offered some much-needed hope and excitement for the future!
We received this lovely letter from Nick Robinson thanking us for raising a wonderful £1,500 for their charity Future Talent with our Grade-1-a-thon.

We also raised another £95 during our Summer Concert on Wednesday evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated. If you would still like to make a contribution, please pay it into the school bank account with the reference 'Future Talent' and we will send it to them on behalf of More House.
