Council Member Blanca Gomez
#1 NOMINEE: ARRESTED

Council Member Blanca Gomez's Nominee, Richard Mattias, For Legislative Review Committee ARRESTED during the 4/4/17 council meeting! Local news reported that Richard Mattias has a criminal background with three misdemeanor convictions between 2002 and 2003. He was arrested during the city council meeting for alleged manufacturing of a controlled substance.

VICTORVILLE — Authorities arrested two Victorville men on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance on Tuesday night. One of the men was expected to be presented as Councilwoman Blanca Gomez’s nominee for the city’s Legislative Review Committee.

“I noticed a sheriff escorted someone out who was sitting in the right rear of the seats, where many of the protesters normally sit, and assumed he was asked to leave because of noise,” Victorville Councilman Cox said. “I asked later what that was about and it was brief but the conversation was that he had been arrested on an outstanding warrant.”

Gomez, who has had all three of her nominees for the Planning Commission rejected since being elected in November, had recommended the appointment of Richard Mettias to the Legislative Review Committee, according to an agenda item submitted for Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

#2 NOMINEE: REFUSED

Council Member Blanca Gomez also nominated RAMIRO RODRIGUEZ to the position of Planning Commissioner. Ramiro Rodriguez is a charro, a Mexican cowboy, who claims to own an international buckle company that focuses on designs for Mexican cowboys, associated with Mundo Charro (world of Mexican cowboys). http://mundocharro.com/ His Facebook reports that he only lives in Los Angeles although he claims to be a Victorville resident. During the nominating process, Victorville Councilman Cox pointed out that Ramiro Rodriguez presented himself as a Victorville businessman, BUT he does not have a business license. “…Catholic Charities gets billions of taxpayer dollars for refugee resettlement and general immigration services, which puts it into the category of a smallish government agency. For example, in 2010, 62 percent of Catholic Charities’ budget was funded by the unwilling taxpayer. The feds and the Catholic bishops are partners.”
