Racing Season Ends Abruptly

It is certainly not the way we anticipated the rest of the season to unfold.  We want to congratulate all of the athletes for having a great season and for those who were going on to compete in Provincial Championships, Invitational Championships, Spring Championships, Masters Championships, Can-Ams and Whistler Cup.  Until next season be safe, healthy and get out and enjoy some family time!

Jozo Weider Award-winner Rob Tankovitch
Congratulations to Rob Tankovich for being awarded the 1st ever Jozo Weider Award at the Jozo Banquet.

The Jozo Award is given out to someone who has helped build the Jozo Weider Racing Club to what it is today. The recipient continually gets involved in various facets of the club and has introduced significant change that has had a long lasting positive effect on the club.

The nominees for this award were: Mr. Dan Skelton, Mr. Ron Westlake, Mr. Michael Leishman and Mr. Rob Tankovich.

One of the nominations describes why Rob should receive this award:

When we think of Rob Tankovich one word comes to mind - "Respect". Those of us that have been around the Jozo community for some time respect Rob immensely for his commitment to the program and willingness to continue to work tirelessly to ensure the U10 program flourishes. The U10 program is where it all began for most of our children. It was where they first ran gates, participated in a race, made friends, and learned to love skiing.

Rob appreciates the mix of apprehension and enthusiasm U10 parents and athletes enter the world of ski racing with and appears energized by the idea of creating an environment that leads to their on-going love for the sport. Rob is a parent of accomplished skiers himself. His daughters graduated from the program many years ago and are now coaches themselves. Yet through their progression Rob stayed with the U10 program as it rapidly grew and delivered better results.

The Jozo program would not be what it is today without Rob Tankovich.

Congratulations Rob! Thanks for being part of the Jozo Family!
