1. The manipulation of an electoral constituency's boundaries so as to favor one party or class: "gerrymandering protects the party lines and keeps bad incumbents in power"
Gerrymandering is deeply undemocratic.
Every 10 years, states redraw congressional and legislative lines, based on changes in the Census, which is essential for democracy. Done correctly, redistricting is a chance to ensure that districts are equally represented. However, the GOP tends to put a heavy thumb on the scale of what is right in order to achieve election outcomes to their favor, and worse - against the preference of voters.

November is National Native American Heritage Month
In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 “National American Indian Heritage Month.” Similar proclamations, under variants on the name (including “Native American Heritage Month” and “National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month”) have been issued each year since 1994.
