Writing @ Fstoppers, nerding out on digital nomad gear and wading through new photos from western Oregon!

Quick Updates 📰

A lot has happened in 4 months! Here’s the TL;DR:

  • I’m a staff writer for Fstoppers! 12 new articles on photography + the digital nomad lifestyle.
  • Wrote 10 new posts on Yellowscale.
  • Wrote my first post for Digital Photography School (live soon!)
  • Submitted 6 photos to a photography competition.
  • Instructed a 16-week coding bootcamp with 21 seriously awesome students. And now I’m passable at ping pong!
  • Took a 15-day landscape photography trip in Oregon.

Nerding out 🤓

Hiker-friendly camera straps, part 2! 🏔

The awesome folks at Peak Design sent me shoulder straps to try out. I tested the Slide v3 straps in Oregon and concluded they were a better fit for event photographers, and less for me as a landscape photographer.

Now I’m testing out the ultralight Leash straps which trade comfort for unbelievable compactness. Thoughts to come!

Carry-on camera backpack for nomads? 🎒

One bag travelers, help me out. I’m not really happy with my Lowepro hiking bag: it’s surprisingly space inefficient, has no tripod clips and tends to slap me in windy conditions. What is your favorite camera backpack?
