Gallipoli Centenary - Superact's tribute to Canakkale Turkusu

The Last Post is marking the Gallipoli Centenary with a Turkish song, which remembers the battle. Canakkale Turkusu is performed by British Folk Musician Paul Sartin and Turkish musicians Cigdem Aslan and Tahir Palali.

Superact is offering funding and resources to mark the First World War Centenary through the Last Post Project.
Superact getting green and creative in Europe

This February Superact hosted partners from across Europe in Bristol as part of the ATEDAL project - read Ursula's blog to see how it went!

The Arts Crafts Dignity in Care (ACDC) project is seeing more delivery taking place in residential homes and day centres in the UK. Read Tracy's blog for the latest news.

We are also pleased to be involved in two new EU projects 'On the Move' and 'NETPLANTS' If you haven't done so already please take time to complete our Netplants survey to help us plan some new green workshops in Bristol!

New community arts programme for Exeter

The Exe-Arts project started this week with an Arts Taster in pottery run by our very own Patsy Lang.  On Wednesday 11th March there will be a Graffiti Art workshop with Miss C when we will also be starting a bespoke graffiti project for Esther Community Hostel and the YMCA in Exeter, hopefully ending in a graffiti wall in the garden behind the hostel.
Superact's Health and Wellbeing Tour 'like a bunch of bright flowers'

Throughout January and February Superact artists Belshazzar's Feast and Emily Wright and the Royals have been performing for patients and staff at Bristol's Southmead Hospital, Bristol Children's Hospital and taking part in the Music and Memories programme for older people with dementia living in the community.

You can read about Emily Wright and the Royals' recent tour in Ursula's blog.

New Superact Team Members

We were all sad to say farewell to Lucy Hather and Nick Roberts at Christmas time but we wish them all the best in their new roles at South West Music School and the Football League (guess who has gone where!).

We are however very pleased to welcome new members to the team! Some have been with us a little while but we haven't had chance to introduce them - Cathie Mckimm our Northern Ireland Project Manager, Gica Loening our Scotland Project ManagerJane Martin our Finance Officer, Cleo Heard aka Miss C our lead SEPE Trainer and also Ursula Billington our new Project Assistant in the Bristol offices.

Feel free to pop in and see us in Bristol or Exeter for a catch up - our doors are always open!
All of the projects above have been made possible through funding and support from the following bodies:

... and news from our friends!

Voluntary Arts have just announced a new £50 - £200 Event Expenses Fund. The fund is for groups in the South West enhancing creative activities in Voluntary Arts Week from 15th - 24th May.

Crucially for Our Big Gig groups, this funding could be used for a public volunteers meeting or taster activity session held during Voluntary Arts Week but linked to an Our Big Gig event in July.  The process to apply is a simple letter or email and short contact details and tick box form - so there's very little to lose. All the information is on Voluntary Arts website. DEADLINE MARCH 13TH

Similar funds with slightly different aims, application processes and deadlines are operating in:
Kent
Scotland
Wales

And don't forget Voluntary Arts are currently accepting nominations for Epic Awards - why not get some national recognition for the work you do putting on your event?
