2019 Olympic Hopes Regatta

Five Rideau athletes and one coach traveled to Bratislava, Slovakia, to participate in the 2019 Olympic Hopes Regatta this weekend starting on Friday. The Olympic Hopes Regatta is an event for young athletes, aged 15 to 17, which gives them the chance to race at international competition with other successful athletes from over 30 countries around the world. It also gives them an opportunity to meet new friends. We can say today this event is like the unofficial world championships for this age group.

Coach Reid Farquharson will be accompanying:
  • Ella Hodgson-Pageau who won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships in the C2 200m and 7 gold medals at Nationals
  • Toshka Besharah who won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in the K4 500m and 5 gold medals at Nationals
  • Matthew O'Neill who won 5 gold medals at Nationals
  • Kieran Graham who won 4 gold medals at Nationals
  • Jacob Price who won 3 gold medals at Nationals
You can get more information about the events they are competing in and the results here.
