The upcoming annual conference being held in Warsaw, Poland on 16th/17th October (details below) will be an occasion for the presentation and discussion of some parts of the substantial work from the FESSUD project. A great deal more is available through our working papers which I encourage you to study.

Work Package 3 has been exploring the causes and consequences of financial crises. This has involved exploring the theories of financial crisis from many perspectives, and a report on that task is below, with links with the working papers which have come from that. Another important part of Work Package 3 has been investigating the causes and consequences of financial crises and the interactions between financialisation and financial crisis in a wide range of countries. Presentations on that work will feature at the annual conference.

Work Package 8 is focused on the relationships between the financial sector and the real sector, and covers a wide range of aspects of those relationships. You will be able to discover the findings of the first part of that Work Package in the article dedicated to it.

The analyses of the financial sector and the processes of financialisation are an important part of Work Package 2 and the overview of that work is also below.

The workshop on Financialisation and Sustainability held at the University of Siena, Italy on 8th and 9th September provided the opportunity for the presentation and discussion of the work in Work Package 7. Our next newsletter will include much more on this workshop and the research results from Work Package 7. Further information and the presentations from the workshop are available from www.congressi.unisi.it/fessudsiena.
