Broadkill Writers' Resort

RDSP now has a permanent location for writing retreats!
On December 2nd we closed on a house in the small community of Broadkill Beach in Milton, DE which is just a 2 hour drive from DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia. For more info visit BroadkillResort.com.
We have big plans for themed writing retreats, room rentals for writing getaways and many other events. If you have an idea for a retreat or are interested in running one please contact us.

Broadkill Resort Writing Scholarship

The mission of the Broadkill Resort will be to faciilitate artistic endeavors and most especially to encourage writing. To that end we've established a scholarship fund to give writers a chance to stay and write for free.

For every $700 we raise we will host a writer for free. Supporters and donors will be the ones to choose who receives the scholarship. Share the link to our YouCaring campaign and join the Broadkill mailing list for the chance to choose. One person will be randomly chosen and they will name the recipient (they can even name themselves). Donors will be entered into the pool twice.

DogCon 4

DogCon 4 in Philadelphia was an amazing time. We toured Eastern State Penitentiary and Laurel Hill Cemetery, had readings and a live performance from Stoneburner in the Eraserhood and did an awesome story swap at Farley's Bookshop. Michael Arnzen set the tone with his talk on The Uncanny Valley at Neumann University and the wackiness grew from there. See all the pics and read the con report here.

Reader's Choice Award Announced

As part of DogCon IV we announced the winner of our 2nd annual Readers Choice Award.

Mourning Jewelry, Stephanie M. Wytovich’s poetry collection from 2014, was the winner.

Although the judges were not able to attend we did take the time to thank both Pam Emmanuel and Daniel Haeusser for reading all five books that made it to the final round and choosing their favorite. Congratulations to Stephanie on a well-deserved win!

Just Released

Jace has built a simple life for himself. Finally free of his family he’s beginning to really live when a dark shadow returns to torment him. He didn’t back down from his father or the bully so he’s not going to back down now but it will take every ounce of his irreverent attitude and a healthy dose of luck to survive this time. He’s about to learn that vampires do exist and  there’s nothing romantic about them.
“Malevolent lineages and emotionally fraught familial relationships propel the plots of most of the 13 genre-spanning stories….Snyder excels in her depictions of characters struggling desperately—and often futilely—to extricate themselves from terrifying snares set by loved ones. Readers will find her stories a cut above most other tales of interpersonal and supernatural horror.”—Publishers Weekly
“In this volume of testosterone-fueled and intentionally disorienting short fiction, Wilson invokes not a dialogue with the reader but a bare-knuckle fistfight…Some books that feel like drugs are smooth and shocking. This one is made of the bad drugs, and it delivers a rough, crunchy high. There is no resolution, only the lingering threat that Wilson intends to do all this again.” —Publishers Weekly
This collection is a reflection, an optical alteration on what readers pretend not to see: insecurities, pain, abuse, honesty. So often, the world is romanticized as a playground where everyone falls in love and has their happy ending. But in the underside, there is heartbreak, there is isolation, there is repetition, just as there is addiction, sex, and repulsion. There are drunk days, too-sober nights, there is confusion, there is clarity.
