COVID-19 and Vendor Pre-Ordering at the Belfast Farmers' Market

Support the local farmers and food businesses of the Belfast Farmers’ Market while sheltering-in-place. Farmers markets remain open as an essential service in Maine, but as we’re advised to stay home and practice social distancing,  many of our vendors are also prepared to make delicious, local food also available for pickup or delivery via pre-order. Checkout the Belfast Farmers' Market website for up to date information regarding each vendors pre-ordering options.

This Week at the Market....

APPLETON CREAMERY

It’s been another super busy week at the Creamery, for which we are very grateful. Staying busy helps distract us from the worries of the world. The last of the spring kids have moved on to their new homes, and cheese production is ramping up. We made our first couple of batches of feta of the season — should be ready in a couple of weeks. We are absolutely devastated that we had to cancel our Annual Kid Hugging Day. This event has grown into one of biggest events of the season. It’s a huge loss for our farm. Thank you to everyone who came out to the market and the farm for cheese last week, and thank you for your continued support through this difficult time. We are in the food business, and everyone needs to eat. Local food is the safest food!

We welcome your pre-order, ready for a speedy pickup at market. We can send you an electronic invoice, but you can still drop a check or exact change into the cash jar, or pay with your credit/debit card or Apple Pay. Email your order to appletoncreamery@gmail.com, with “order for market” in the subject line. You may also TEXT us at 542-7828. Please identify yourself, and please, no phone calls.

Here is our cheese availability for this week:
Chèvre in olive oil (with roasted garlic & herbs & peppercorns) — $8
Goat cheese spreads, 4-oz — $5
herb& garlic, plain, dill, Maine wild mushroom
Goat cheese logs — $8
rolled in Lime pepper —or— chipotle
Goats milk yogurt — $8/pint

Cow cheese: (pre-wrapped slices) (ave 5-8oz) $8-12 each
Dill Havarti
Jack
Gouda with toasted cumin seed
Caerphilly

Out of stock on feta and Camdenbert for a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, we dream of April flowers.

TODDY POND FARM

Toddy Pond Farm will be at the market this Friday from 9 am to 11 am for Pre-Order pickups and with a limited amount of products for at market sales. Over the past couple of weeks our sales from 11 am to 1 pm have not been enough to justify standing at the market and with the weather this Friday not looking good, it doesn't make sense.

Another week and many more changes - here are the highlights:

  • TPF will be at the 4/10 market from 9 am to 11 am
  • Our Online Store (button below) has been great for many of our customers - we will be fully stocked again for ordering on Thursday afternoon
  • Our Farm Store is now only open on Saturdays from 8 to 5 pm. It is staffed and sanitized between each customer visit. Pre-orders for Saturday pickup also available.
  • The town of Monroe has done a major repair on Carver Rd, up to the farm. New culverts, better drainage and lots of freshly spread and smoothed gravel.
  • Increased online store hours - open until 9 pm for pick up the following day.
  • We are requesting folks who pre-order for Friday pickup at the market be there between 9 am and 11 am

Our farm store fridge

We are taking the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and taking all measures we can to continue to provide our community with healthy whole food options, while at the same time ensuring the health and safety of our family, staff and customers.

If you are coming to shop our farm store, please use a pair of the gloves hanging in the dispenser by the front door - (even if you have your own gloves on) to limit the risk of spreading the virus. Please take those gloves with you and dispose of them at home. Bringing and using your own pen is highly recommended.

Online pre-order is not currently mandatory for purchasing our items at the Belfast Farmer's Market, but we do strongly encourage it if you are looking to purchase our full product offerings.

And lastly, although we know being outside and seeing the farm would be wonderful for folks to do right now, for the safety of our family and staff (yes we still have employees), the farm is not open to visitors. Please limit your visits to our farm store. Thank you.

Be Well - Greg & Heide
