This Week at the Market....

BRAE MAPLE FARM

This will be Brae Maple Farm’s last market for the season.

We now have to start focusing on our vegetable operation.
We still have lots of culinary herbs including Thai and sacred basil.  We look forward to rejoining the market in November.

Sunday, July 28 is Open Farm Day. We welcome you to come see our vegetable gardens and our Master Gardener project now in it’s 21st  year.
FIRE FLOWER GARDEN

Fire Flower Garden has some pretty Siberian Iris plants this week. More beautiful fresh flower bouquets each week as  the season progresses,

DICKEY HILL FARM

It is truly feeling and looking like summer around the farm. This week at market we will continue to have snap peas, carrots, beets, zucchini, lettuce mix, rainbow chard, kale, cucumbers as well as our first harvests of cabbage, head lettuce, and maybe even a sneak peak of shishito peppers!

See you Friday!!

APPLETON CREAMERY

Introducing.... Sterlingtown! In honor of our 25th Anniversary Silver Jubilee, a special edition bloomy rind aged goat cheese log with pink and green peppercorns. Coming to farmers’ markets this week!

This may be the last of the chive chevre for the season! While they last. See you at market!

TODDY POND FARM

We will be bringing yogurt, kefir, cheese, fermented veggies, eggs, pork, beef and yes folks, ice cream sandwiches - this week vanilla bean ice cream on salted chocolate chip cookies!

On Friday afternoons (by 5pm) we will have fresh baked sourdough bread and raw milk available in our farm store.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first Friday night dinner on the 21st!

It was a lot of fun and we had a great kick off crowd - nearly 60 people! Here's a few pictures of the evening, and yes that's Barbara's (Fire Flower Garden) husband Charlie, who jumped in with the band and Rocked It!!

This week's musical guest - The Rusty Hinges

Hope to see you out at the farm on Fridays throughout the summer - more details at www.toddypondfarm.com/grillandchill

Belfast Farmers' Market Needs Your Help!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Do you have 2 hours available on an occasional Friday morning?
Do you want to support the markets' efforts to provide low-income shoppers with access to local food? Perhaps you appreciate the convenience of having the option to use your credit card at market? Maybe you just enjoy and value the Belfast Farmers' Market community and would be willing to give us an extra hand.  We are looking for a few additional volunteers to staff the market info booth this summer. Currently, we have a fabulous group of volunteers who tirelessly show up every Friday morning and work 2-4 hour shifts at the info booth, but we need more help for the bustling summer months. Volunteer duties include: welcoming shoppers, providing EBT/SNAP and credit card customers with clipboards for shopping, adding up shopping sheets, swiping customer cards on the markets' wireless machine, distributing Maine Harvest Bucks and answering general questions about the market.
No experience necessary, just a friendly and positive attitude.
Contact Marcia at Peacemeal Farm (peacemealfarm@gmail.com) for more details.
MAINE HARVEST BUCKS UPDATE
We just received an update from the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets, the organization that manages the Maine Harvest Bucks program.
Now that the funding from the USDA FINI grant has been confirmed for the next three years, we will be handing out new vouchers.
We will also be able to accept vouchers with the 3/31/2019 expiration date
anytime through 2021!
